Solar radiation directly affects larval performance of a forest insect
TL;DR: The data in the present study suggest that the opportunity for young larvae to bask in the sun during cold spring weather is an important determinant of the spatial distribution of T. pinivora.

Costanza Geppert,Andree Cappellari,Daria Corcos,Valerio Caruso,Pierfilippo Cerretti,Maurizio Mei,Lorenzo Marini +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the effects of temperature, open habitat cover, and distance from the city centre on wild bee communities in the city of Rome (Italy) were investigated and it was shown that in a highly urbanised environment, temperature shapes pollinator communities irrespective of other landscape metrics.

Global meta-analysis shows reduced quality of food crops under inadequate animal pollination
Elena Gazzea,Péter Batáry,Lorenzo Marini +2 more
TL;DR: A global meta-analysis reveals that inadequate animal pollination reduces crop quality in fruits and vegetables, but has minimal impact on nutritional value, highlighting the importance of safeguarding pollination services for food security.

Contrasting response of native and non-native plants to disturbance and herbivory in mountain environments
Costanza Geppert,Francesco Boscutti,Greta La Bella,Vittoria De Marchi,Daria Corcos,Antonio Filippi,Lorenzo Marini +6 more
TL;DR: The effect of soil disturbance and elevation on native and non‐native plant communities, and the effect of plant‐herbivore interactions, nitrogen deposition, and elevation in driving plant establishment after soil disturbance are tested.
