This paper is concerned with secure state estimation of non-linear systems under malicious cyber-attacks. The application of target tracking over a wireless sensor network is investigated. The existence of rotational manoeuvre in the target movement introduces non-linear behaviour in the dynamic model of the system. Moreover, in wireless sensor networks under cyber-attacks, erroneous information is spread in the whole network by imperilling some nodes and consequently their neighbours. Thus, they can deteriorate the performance of tracking. Despite the development of target tracking techniques in wireless sensor networks, the problem of rotational manoeuvring target tracking under cyberattacks is still challenging. To deal with the model non-linearity due to target rotational manoeuvres, an unscented Kalman filter is employed to estimate the target state variables consisting of the position and velocity. A diffusion-based distributed unscented Kalman filtering combined with a trust-based scheme is applied to ensure robustness against the cyber-attacks in manoeuvring target tracking applications over a wireless sensor network with secured nodes. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in terms of tracking accuracy, while random attacks, false data injection attacks, and replay attacks are considered.

Distributed trust-based unscented Kalman filter for non-linear state estimation under cyber-attacks: The application of manoeuvring target tracking over wireless sensor networks

The task to ensure security in a network that is distributed over several nodes is a significant and challenging one. Since the primary objective of a DDoS attack is to prevent authorized nodes from gaining access to the service, this type of attack presents a significant threat to distributed networks. It is highly important that a modular and dependable NIDS must be created for handling DOS attacks in the distributed environment effectively, and in turn, all the nodes are available in the distributed network.The high need for modular techniques required in the detection phase for collecting, storing and analyzing the big data from the nodes in the distributed network poses significant hurdles in finding out the Distributed DOS attack.This research proposes a Big Data-based Distributed Denial of Service Network Intrusion Detection System to address these issues. Important features of the proposed intrusion detection system include a module for detecting network traffic and another for collecting data on that traffic. In this study, micro-batch data processing is employed for traffic feature gathering in the Network collection module and Random Forest (RF) algorithm-based classification technique is used in the traffic detection module for feature selection. For Storing a large number of wary attacks, Hadoop File System (HDFS) is used, and for accelerating the speed of data processing, S park is used as a suggested solution.The method was assessed using the NSL-KDD benchmark dataset to find the accuracy and many other parameters. Experimental results for Accuracy, Recall, F1-Measure and Precision, from the proposed work are compared to those from the machine learning techniques, DT(Decision Tree), PCA RF(Principal Component Analysis Random Forest), NB(Naive Bayes), SVM(Support Vector Machine), and LR (Logistic Regression). According to the experimental findings, the suggested detection algorithm achieved an Accuracy of 99.89%, respectively. 

An Efficient Network Intrusion Detection System for Distributed Networks using Machine Learning Technique

This work investigates the problem of joint localization and target tracking (JLATT) of multi-vehicle systems (MVSs) in the presence of Byzantine attacks (BAs). For MVSs, there may exist malicious and misbehaving vehicles, called Byzantine vehicles, which act as deceivers and pass false information to their neighbors. For the first time, we formulate a resilient JLATT framework to synthesize the hybrid problems of distributed cooperative localization and flock tracking in the presence of BAs. More specifically, we propose a covariance weighted mean-subsequence-filter (CW-MSF) algorithm to guarantee that the MVS achieves flock tracking w.r.t a target even in the presence of a certain fraction of Byzantine vehicles. Note that this resilient JLATT scheme does not require global information and thus it is fully distributed. The practicality and validity of this novel JLATT framework are verified via an illustrative numerical simulation example.

Learning-based Detection of Stealthy False Data Injection Attack Applied to Cooperative Localization Problem

We consider distributed Kalman filter for dynamic state estimation over wireless sensor networks. It is promising but challenging when network is under cyber attacks. Since the information exchange between nodes, the malicious attacks quickly spread across the entire network, which causing large measurement errors and even to the collapse of sensor networks. Aiming at the malicious network attack, a trust-based distributed processing frame is proposed. Which allows neighbor nodes to exchange information, and a series of trusted nodes are found using truth discovery. As a demonstration, distributed Cooperative Localization is considered, and numerical results are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach by considering random, false data injection and replay attacks.

Trust-Based Distributed Kalman Filter Estimation Fusion under Malicious Cyber Attacks

The invention discloses a key service discovery method based on a service network. The key service discovery method based on the service network comprises the following steps: Step I, establishing theservice network and registering a service; Step II, when a new service is registered, triggering calculation of an importance degree of the new service and updating of a key service; and Step III, refreshing the importance degrees of entire network services and eliminating part of failed services. According to the key service discovery method disclosed by the invention, the key service is protected once the key service is discovered, and the service robustness is guaranteed; and the problem of a network service failure caused by simultaneous failures of a large number of compound services dueto failures of some services caused by certain factors is solved.
