The rapid development of technology and explosion of information on the Internet had lead to a surge of using IT for teaching and learning among different education sectors. In the light of this, many education institutions had developed policy in implementing IT for teaching and learning to improve and enhance the quality of the courses they provided. This thesis reports a study of using IT for teaching and learning by teachers in the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), as an implementation of a curriculum innovation. The aim of this study was to investigate how teachers acted in the implementation process rather than to investigate the effectiveness of IT brought to teaching and learning. Different research methods were used to answer the research questions posed for the study. An “Implementation Rubric” was established to find out how the innovation was implemented by IVE teachers. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to identify the factors that hindered and enhanced the implementation. Document analysis was also adopted to triangulate the evidence gathered from surveys and interviews. Results of this research indicated that, in general, the innovation was implemented by IVE teachers, although the degree of implementation of individual dimensions and sub-dimensions varied. The implementation of a curriculum innovation: a study of using IT for teaching and learning in the Hong Kong institute of vocational education

Online learning has become an important component of the higher education landscape in the United States. However, faculty are often either ill-prepared in using cutting-edge educational technologies in the classroom or have reservations about online teaching. Mishra and Koehler’s (2006) Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) model, often used in K-12 settings to describe the role of technology in the pedagogical process, can be adapted to meet the professional development needs of faculty. The model we propose, TPACK-ConK, adds another layer of knowledge, context knowledge, to the model in order to account for the specific professional development needs of faculty in higher education. TPACK-ConK can be used by Centers for Teaching and Learning to better construct professional development for faculty engaged in online teaching.

Incorporating Contextual Knowledge in Faculty Professional Development for Online Teaching

800x600 Online instruction provides a rich integrated environment, as recent innovative educational technologies are changing lives of both students and faculty staff. This research aims to investigate e-readiness and willingness of Business faculty staff towards online instruction, and whether their experience in using educational technologies influences their attitude. Survey methodology is facilitated through the use of the questionnaires. The survey domain is a random sampling of Business faculty staff in Egyptian HEI. The population for this study was 479 full-time Faculty staff, and only 456 returned and completed questionnaires are considered as the study sample. Results showed that faculty attitude toward online instruction is positive, which reflect their e-readiness and willingness to include online instruction, but experience in using educational technology did not significantly predict their attitude towards online instruction. The result of this research has significant implications to HEI when they plan, develop, and adopt online instruction strategies. Business faculty e-readiness and willingness towards online instruction

Critical analysis of technological skills deemed extremely important in the evaluation of faculty staff ereadiness. Research aims at assessing e-readiness of faculty staff in the affiliate institutions of the Royal Commission in Jubail, and to investigate whether their experience in using ICTs influences their judgement about using ICTs or not. Survey methodology facilitated through the use of questionnaires collected from 146 respondents. Analysis revealed that faculty staff judgement about using ICTs, their ereadiness and willingness to using ICTs are highly positive. Moreover, their experience in using ICTs did not significantly predict their judgement about ICTs. The result of this study provides valuable insights as it will enable policy-makers to prioritize interventions needed for transforming the Institutions of the Royal Commission in Jubail into an e-ready entity favourably placed to benefit from digital opportunities, as well as to develop and support factors that enhance strategies for adopting ICTs effectively.

The ability of engineering graduate students to use their knowledge and independently engage in scientific research is one of the important indicators to measure the quality of postgraduate training. This paper takes the comprehensive improvement of graduate students’ ability to engage in scientific research independently as the starting point, and improves the teaching quality of basic courses of graduate majors in an all-round way by constructing teaching methods of basic knowledge intensive teaching, knowledge application and case process teaching, so that students can deeply grasp the course knowledge system and flexibly apply the knowledge learned in the course learning process. Finally, it lays a good foundation for students to engage in scientific research independently.

To meet the demands of the “new engineering” construction, the problems of the existing computer science course should be paid attention, such as out of dated teaching methods and content, lack of new technologies applied in the experiments, etc. This paper analyzes the challenges of introducing AI(AI) into university computer courses, from teaching objectives, teaching content and teaching mode to give an empirical evidence. The whole process of teaching is introduced in various aspects. Assessment methods and the final evaluation is explained through questionnaires, which provides a useful reference for the further reform of university computer courses and the training of new engineering talents.
