Preparation of pleated RGO/MXene/Fe3O4 microsphere and its absorption properties for electromagnetic wave

Graphene oxide (GO) was initially developed to emulate graphene, but it was soon recognized as a functional material in its own right, addressing an application space that is not accessible to graphene and other carbon materials. Over the past decade, research on GO has made tremendous advances in material synthesis and property tailoring. These, in turn, have led to rapid progress in GO-based photonics, electronics and optoelectronics, paving the way for technological breakthroughs with exceptional performance. In this Review, we provide an overview of the optical, electrical and optoelectronic properties of GO and reduced GO on the basis of their chemical structures and fabrication approaches, together with their applications in key technologies such as solar energy harvesting, energy storage, medical diagnosis, image display and optical communications. We also discuss the challenges of this field, together with exciting opportunities for future technological advances. As the most common derivative of graphene, graphene oxide has emerged as a new frontier material with tremendous applications to photonics, electronics and optoelectronics in the past decade. This Review highlights the state of the art and future prospects for this fast-growing field.

Thermal camouflaging metamaterials

In this paper, a simple ultrasonic spray technology is used to assemble one-dimensional (1D) carboxylated carbon nanotubes (C-CNTs) and two-dimensional (2D) Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets into three-dimensional (3D) porous MXene/C-CNTs microspheres (MCM). After vacuum carbonization, C-MCM with excellent microwave absorbing properties are obtained. It finds that the synergy of MXene and CNTs makes C-MCM have good impedance matching and microwave attenuation capabilities. Under the best mass ratio (MXene: CNTs = 3:1) and filler content (30%), the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) is −45 dB@10 GHz, and the corresponding matching thickness is 2.7 mm. When the thickness is 1.9 mm, the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) reaches 4.9 GHz. By adjusting the thickness of the absorber, almost all electromagnetic waves in the C, X and Ku bands can be completely absorbed. Therefore, C-MCM provides a new way to manufacture electromagnetic wave absorbers with light weight, thin thickness, high efficiency and broadband.

Three dimensional porous MXene/CNTs microspheres: Preparation, characterization and microwave absorbing properties

Special materials for radar wave absorption (RWA) and stealth camouflage techniques are desired, because of their widespread applications in the military field. In this paper, silanized MoS2 (M/MoS2)/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets were synthesized via ultrasonic and graft methods. The complex permittivity, Cole–Cole plots, and reflection loss (RL) curve and 3D RL plots indicate that the nanosheets have remarkable absorption properties. When the content of (M/MoS2)/rGO was 18 wt %, (M/MoS2)/rGO–wax composites exhibited an effective radar absorption bandwidth of 5.81 GHz at a thickness of 2.5 mm and a maximum RL of −49.7 dB. (M/MoS2)/rGO composites could be used as promising materials for RWA and broad absorption properties.
