\n The dynamic performance of the steel–Basalt fiber polymer concrete (BFPC) machine tool joint surface (referred to as the joint surface) has a significant impact on the overall BFPC machine tool performance; however, its dynamic characteristics remain unclear. In order to solve this problem, the influence of roughness and surface pressure on the dynamic performance of joint surface was studied experimentally, and a neural network prediction model for the dynamic performance of the joint surface was established. A BFPC bed was designed and manufactured, and BFPC bed’s dynamic performance was tested experimentally. The finite element simulation model of BFPC bed was established with equivalent spring-damper element. The BFPC bed’s dynamic performance without considering the influence of the joint surface and considering the influence of the joint surface was studied separately. The results show that the maximum error of the natural frequency of the BFPC bed was 6.937% considering the influence of the joint surface, which was much lower than the error without considering the influence of the joint surface. The maximum amplitude error of the X-axis and Z-axis acceleration of the BFPC bed was 6.917% and 5.15%, which were much smaller than the error without considering the influence of the joint surface. It proves the accuracy of the neural network prediction model for dynamic performance of the joint surface and the validity of the finite element simulation method for the joint surface. It provides theoretical support for the design analysis of BFPC machine tool.

Dynamic Characteristics Analysis and Finite Element Simulation of Steel–BFPC Machine Tool Joint Surface

Friction squeal is an unstable friction-induced vibration with high frequency and high intensity, which is troublesome for both people and environment. Surface topography is an important influencing factors of friction squeal. In this paper, based on introduction of surface topography, a review on the influence of surface topography on friction squeal is conducted from the aspect of experimental analysis, theoretical research and simulation analysis. For the convenience of scholars’ understanding and carrying out relevant research, the influence of surface topography on friction and contact parameters, and the influence of friction and contact parameters on friction squeal are reviewed. Moreover, the generation methods of rough surface are introduced to facilitate the research. Finally, on the basis of a discussion on difficulties and shortcomings of the former research, recommendations are proposed for future research.

Fractal Model for Normal Contact Damping of Joint Surface Considering Elastoplastic Phase

The interface leaking of the gasket-BPP sealing structure affects the efficiency, safety, and reliability of PEMFCs. Aiming to reveal the basic cause of interface leaking and predict the leakage rate, the contact behavior at the micro-scale had been researched by FEM with the fractal multi-scale method, which could eliminate the negative influence of a single observation scale on the gasket-BPP rough interface modeling. Furthermore, in order to relate the contacting behavior at the micro-scale to the leakage rate at the macro-scale of PEMFCs, the mapping model had been established to analyze the sealing performance of the entire interface through the self-affine and self-similar characteristics of the fractal multi-scale contacting model of the gasket-BPP. Not only macroscopic properties of gasket rubber materials are considered in this model, but also microscopic morphologies are taken in to investigate the interface leakage rate, which had not been studied in traditional macroscopic research. By comparing the compression curves and interface leakage rates of the flange sealing device in testing and calculating approaches, the accuracy and reliability of the mapping model had been verified, leading to the analysis and the prediction of the PEMFC interface leakage rate rapidly. 

PEMFC sealing modeling relating to fractal characteristics of gasket-BPP interface based on micro-contact

Bolt connection is an important component in mechanical structure which significantly affects the dynamic property of the whole structure. In this paper, a three-dimensional transition interface model which contains geometric and physical parameters is proposed to model the bolted joint based on the contact analysis. The geometric parameters and the physical parameters are used to characterize the influence of contact area and contact pressure which are related to connection parameters such as material, roughness, connection thickness, and tightening force, respectively. After that, the geometric parameter identification method is proposed, and the geometric parameter database of bolt joints for machine tools is constructed based on the Kriging interpolation method. Then, the model updating method based on the combination of modal parameters and frequency response function is proposed to identify the physical parameters and thickness of the three-dimensional transition interface model. The database of the transition interface model is constructed after verifying the validity of the proposed model. Finally, an engineering example of an engraving machine tool is used to check the practicability of the proposed transition interface model and the usage of the constructed parameter database.

The dynamic behaviors of the joint interfaces make a great difference in machine tools, especially in high-end numerical control machines. To provide an assessment of the normal dynamic parameters in contact deformation of elastoplastic solid joint interfaces theoretically, a dynamic model of joint interfaces was proposed and studied. Based on contact fractal theory and contact-mechanics theory, interfacial parameters, including normal damping dissipation factor, stiffness and damping have been investigated, while the influences of the elastic, elastoplastic and fully plastic deformations of contacting asperities are considered. Solution for the force-displacement relationship in the elastoplastic regime is done by the well supported assumptions: the microcontact area and microcontact normal load are enforcing continuity between the elastic and fully plastic regimes. Numerical calculation results reveal the complications of nonlinear relation between normal contact load and normal dynamic parameters, including the normal stiffness, damping dissipation factor and damping over joint interfaces. Furthermore, normal dynamic parameters and fractal parameters, including fractal dimension D and fractal roughness parameter G also present complicated relationships.
