Antibody response and viraemia during the course of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-associated coronavirus infection
Weijun Chen,Zuyuan Xu,Jingsong Mu,Ling Yang,Haixue Gan,Feng Mu,Baoxing Fan,Bo He,Shengyong Huang,Bo You,Yongkui Yang,Xiangjun Tang,Ling Qiu,Yan Qiu,Jie Wen,Jianqiu Fang,Jian Wang +16 more
TL;DR: To understand the time-course of viraemia and antibody responses to severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV), RT-PCR and ELISA were used to assay 376 blood samples from 135 SARS patients at various stages of the illness, including samples from patients who were in their early convalescent phase.

Development of Taqman RT-nested PCR system for clinical SARS-CoV detection.
Qingfa Wu,Zuyuan Xu,Tian Wei,Haipang Zeng,Jingxiang Li,Haixue Gang,Min Sun,Fangbo Jiang,Xiang Wang,Wei Dong,Ling Yang,Jian Wang +11 more
TL;DR: The specificity and sensitivity of the Taqman RT-nested PCR system was found to be 100 and 83%, respectively, which suggests that the method is a promising one to diagnose SARS in early stages.

Retrospective serological investigation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus antibodies in recruits from mainland China.
Sumeng Yu,Maofeng Qiu,Zeliang Chen,Xiaobo Ye,Yaling Gao,Aimin Wei,Xiaoyi Wang,Ling Yang,Jin Wang,Jie Wen,Yajun Song,Decui Pei,Erhei Dai,Zhaobiao Guo,Cheng Cao,Jian Wang,Ruifu Yang +16 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated that the subjects either had rarely been exposed to the virus before the 2003 SARS outbreak or had not been exposed but the nucleocapsid protein cross-reacted with other antibodies in humans.
13
Real-time quantitative fluorescent reverse transcriptase-PCR for detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus RNA.
Weijun Chen,Zuyuan Xu,Jingsong Mu,Bo He,Ling Yang,Lin Lin,Shufang Meng,Feng Mu,Haixue Gan,Shengyong Huang,Jie Wen,Jianqiu Fang,Jian Wang +12 more
TL;DR: The primer developed is sufficiently sensitive and specific to diagnose symptomatic SARS-CoV infections and for monitoring virus load.

SARS-associated coronavirus transmitted from human to pig.
Weijun Chen,Minghua Yan,Ling Yang,Boliang Ding,Bo He,Yingzhen Wang,Xiuli Liu,Chenhui Liu,Hui Zhu,Bo You,Shengyong Huang,Jiangguo Zhang,Feng Mu,Zhao Xiang,Xiaoli Feng,Jie Wen,Jianqiu Fang,Jun Yu,Huanming Yang,Jian Wang +19 more
TL;DR: Sequence and epidemiology analyses suggested that the pig isolated from a pig was infected by a SARS-CoV of human origin.
