Modelling of fluid flow in porous media and filtering water process: Langevin dynamics and Darcy’s law based approach

The existence of stress sensitivity effect made the percolation mechanism of low-permeability reservoirs significantly complex. Further, numerous reservoirs have composite stratum properties in actual development procedure. This paper based on the concept of permeability stress sensitivity presents an unsteady flow model for horizontal well taking both stress sensitivity and composite reservoir into account. Analytic solutions for the transient pressure and the rate decline behaviors are obtained by comprehensive utilization of regular perturbation method, Laplace transformation, orthogonal transformation, and Stehfest numerical inversion. The example analysis verifies that the proposed model is reliable and practical. Likewise, there is a discussion of the influence of permeability modulus and other relevant parameters on the transient pressure and the rate decline for horizontal well in stress-sensitive composite reservoir. The work of this paper improved the previous researches and provided a more accurate basis for transient flow analysis and formation evaluation of this typical reservoir.

Transient Pressure and Rate Decline Analysis for Horizontal Well in Stress-Sensitive Composite Reservoir

The measuring instruments have some errors in the measurement of high water cut production wells, and many domestic oil fields are also in high water cut state. The measured data from the conventional production logging instrument are all almost inaccurate. This project has designed a staggered probe array flow meter well logging apparatus based on the characteristic of electromagnetic wave specific retention meter that can fully cover the wellbore fluid and improve flow measurement accuracy. According to the application in horizontal wells, the accuracy of this measuring instrument now has been proved to be more than 90% and can meet the requirements of production logging interpretation in horizontal wells.

Considering hydrogen deteriorates the mechanical properties of pipeline steel, and may leads to premature failure of pipe, the dynamic burst behavior of X100 steel pipeline with hydrogen damage under internal high pressure was numerically studied in this work based on the ductile damage theory. Two models describing the dependence of failure strain ε‾0pl and the fracture energy Gf on hydrogen coverage φ were developed, and then they were incorporated into ABAQUS by a user defined VUSDFLD FORTRAN subroutine. After validating the model, the effect of different parameters, including hydrogen distribution, hydrogen concentration, stress-induced hydrogen enrichment effect, the diameter-to-thickness ratio and the geometry defects on the dynamic burst behavior of pipe were thoroughly studied, and the ultimate burst pressure and the burst morphology of pipe were shown. It indicated that the ductility of pipe decreases a lot while the burst strength was less affected when hydrogen damage was considered, thus sudden failure may occur without perceptible deformation. Besides, in the presence of corrosion defects, the burst strength decreases almost linearly as the corrosion depth increases. 

Ductile burst behavior of high pressure X100 steel pipe considering hydrogen damage

The high strength and light weight of the high strength steel (HSS) make it extensively used. However, the reduction in ductility often leads to prominent fracture issues. The Q690 steel, with a yield strength greater than 690 MPa, is one type of Chinese HSS, and its fracture behavior, especially under complex stress states, is a growing concern. Therefore, this study tests a series of monotonic tensile specimens of Q690 HSS with various stress states to obtain the fracture results. Subsequently, a new Lode-dependent enhanced Lemaitre (NLEL) model is proposed. This model integrates the damage effect of the Lode parameter into the original Lemaitre model, enhancing the accuracy of fracture prediction specifically under shear-dominated stress scenarios. Comparative analysis among the Lemaitre model, NLEL model, and another Lode-dependent enhanced Lemaitre (LEL) model reveals that the proposed NLEL model delivers more comprehensive fracture prediction across all tested specimens, including smooth round bars, notched round bar, flat grooved plates, pure-shear plates as well as tensile-shear plates. Furthermore, this study delves into the analysis of damage evolution under representative stress states and initiates discussions regarding the coupled damage model.
