Simulating pre-evacuation times using hazard-based duration models: is waiting strategy more efficient than instant response?
TL;DR: Increasing the degree of pre-movement-time heterogeneity led monotonically to longer evacuation times, despite making the evacuation more orderly, suggesting that advising occupants to avoid instant rush may not be a time-optimal strategy, even though it mitigates congestion.

TL;DR: In this paper , a cavity-enhanced optical absorption measurement technique based on high-bandwidth PDH sideband locking is presented, which provides a resonant amplitude quadrature readout that can be mapped onto the cavity's internal loss rate and is naturally compatible with weak probe beams.
