A comprehensive survey upon diverse and prolific applications of chitosan-based catalytic systems in one-pot multi-component synthesis of heterocyclic rings.

Metalloporphyrin and triazine integrated nitrogen-rich frameworks as high-performance platform for CO2 adsorption and conversion under ambient pressure

A series of non-metal and high-efficiency PENDIs with hydrogen bond donor, which were prepared by condensation reaction of β-diketone and imine, are used for cycloaddition of CO2 and epoxides. The influences of different structure of catalysts and hydrogen bonds on catalytic performance were studied by experiments and density functional theory. The results showed that PENDIs which possess -OH of β-diketone and -NH- exhibit excellent catalytic performance for cycloaddition of CO2 and epichlorohydrin, and the record yield is 97.26 %. The single factor investigation and response surface methodology were used for obtaining optimal reaction conditions of PENDIs. A possible mechanism for CO2 cycloaddition that catalyzed by PENDIs is proposed, it includes epoxide adsorption, ring-opening of epoxide, CO2 insertion and the formation of cyclic carbonate. It is proved that the synergy between -OH of β-diketone and -NH- can promote the catalytic performance of PENDIs for CO2 cycloaddition.

The conversion of CO 2 into value-added cyclic carbonates over metal- and halogen-free heterogeneous catalyst has attracted much attention but remains a huge challenge. Herein, a covalent triazine framework (CTF) with hierarchical microstructure was synthesized from cyanuric chloride and 1,4-phenylenediamine by a simple solvothermal approach compared to traditional ionothermal trimerization methods. While functionalizing the CTF framework with imidazole (IM) groups, the resultant CTF-IM exhibits excellent catalytic activity for the synthesis of cyclic carbonate from CO 2 and epoxides under metal-, halogen- and solvent-free conditions. Under optimal reaction conditions, the representative epoxide, epichlorohydrin, afforded the corresponding cyclic carbonate in almost quantitative yield (94.6%), which is 5.4 times than that obtained over the parent CTF. The Lewis acidic C 2 -H and Lewis basic nitrogen atom play vital roles in the activation of epoxide and CO 2 , respectively, which help the cycloaddition reaction to proceed faster. In addition, CTF-IM has good chemical stability and recyclability, as well as could be applicable to a wide range of substituted epoxides. • Imidazole-functionalized covalent triazine framework with hierarchical microstructure is synthesized by a simple method. • As a metal- and halogen-free heterogeneous catalyst, CTF-IM gives almost quantitative yield with 100% selectivity of CMEC. • Lewis acidic C 2 -H and Lewis basic nitrogen atom in imidazole groups primarily facilitate the cycloaddition reaction. • The CTF-IM catalyst shows excellent reusability and chemical stability.
