Microalgae is capable of fixing CO2 and utilizing nutrients from wastewater through photosynthesis, making it the most promising biotechnology for carbon capture. Efficient carbon capture is crucial for both microalgae cultivation processes and biomass conversion. Micro-nano-bubbles (MNBs) have the potential to enhance the CO2 solubility and carbon capture efficiency of microalgae due to their minuscule size, high gas-liquid mass transfer efficiency, and large electrostatic interactions. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive reviews to elucidate the potential applications of MNBs in microalgae production. Therefore, this review will systematically introduce the unique properties of MNBs and suitable generation methods for microalgae cultivation. In addition, the insights mechanisms into how MNBs improve the gas-liquid mass transfer and carbon capture efficiency during microalgae cultivation are illustrated. Moreover, potential applications of MNBs in microalgae cultivation, such as the synergistic effects of MNBs in the pretreatment of wastewater and microalgae separation, are highlighted and discussed in depth. Finally, future research directions for MNBs-coupled microalgae systems are outlined. This review is organized to provide readers with an understanding of relevant topics to advance the application of MNBs in the microalgae cultivation industry as well as in upstream and downstream industries. 

Micro-nano-bubbles and their application in microalgae production: Wastewater treatment, carbon capture and microalgae separation

To efficiently recover blurred image degraded by vibration, this paper proposes a way to simulate vibration blurred images and measures direction and amplitude of vibration and gets movement parameters of vibration and point spread function of blurred image. The simulation method of time part image superposition is given according to degradation model of vibration blurred images and character of integral. The direction and amplitude of vibration are measured from spectrum of blurred image by the way of two times Radon transform. Analysis results show the principle of the simulation is correct and the measurement method achieves good performance. Research conclusion provides important basis for designing an effective image restoration algorithm.

Simulation and Analysis of Vibration Blurred Images

The paper proposes a method to measure vibration amplitude of ultrasonic horn which is a very important component in the spindle for micro-electrical-chemical discharging machining. The method of image measuring amplitude on high frequency vibration is introduced. Non-contact measurement system based on vision technology is constructed. High precision location algorithm on image centroid, quadratic location algorithm, is presented to find the center of little light spot. Measurement experiments have been done to show the effect of image measurement technique on vibration amplitude of ultrasonic horn. In the experiments, precise calibration of the vision system is implemented using a normal graticule to obtain the scale factor between image pixel and real distance. The vibration amplitude of ultrasonic horn is changed by modifying the voltage amplitude of pulse power supply. The image of feature on ultrasonic horn is captured and image processing is carried out. The vibration amplitudes are got at different voltages.

Aerial images captured using time delay and integration (TDI) charge-coupled devices (CCDs) could be blurred by three types of motion: forward image motion, turbulence disturbance and high frequency vibration. This work proposes a method to separately construct the three deterministic models by discerning or calculating the parameters from a single image blurred by all the three ones. Based on these models, we catch and separate the features existing in the power spectrum diagram, and select the methods with the best identification accuracy to the parameters. The results show the approach we mention can promise the accuracy of the determined parameters, which is helpful to improve the result of blind restoration algorithm.

Introduction: Carbon sequestration by microalgae is an effective approach for achieving carbon neutrality owing to its high carbon capture efficiency and environmental friendliness. To improve microalgae CO2 fixation efficiency, various methods to enhance CO2 transfer at the gas-liquid interface have resulted in high energy consumption. Methods: In this study, a novel aeration device with bubble cutting slices was installed in a photobioreactor for CO2 supply, which could precisely separate bubbles into sizes on the way to rising after departure, achieving CO2 transfer enhancement without extra energy consumption. Subsequently, the bubble cutting dynamic behaviors in the photobioreactor were studied, and the effects of thickness, hydrophilicity, and arrangement of cutting slices on microalgal growth were analyzed. Results: It was found that bubble cutting caused the maximum dry weight and biomass productivity of microalgae to improve by 6.99% and 33.33%, respectively, compared with those of the bioreactor without cutting units, owing to a 27.97% and 46.88% decrease in bubble size and rising velocity, respectively, and an 84.55% prolongation of bubble residence time. Discussion: Parallel cut slices with a thickness and spacing of less than 3 mm successfully cut the bubbles. The hydrophobic slice surface prevented daughter bubble departure and prolonged the bubble residence time, impeding microalgae growth owing to bubble coalescence with subsequent bubbles. The optimal cutting slice parameters and culture conditions for microalgal growth were 1 mm slice thickness, less than 1 mm slice spacing, 5% inlet CO2 concentration, and 70 mL/min gas flow rate.
