Microwave-assisted preparation of inorganic nanostructures in liquid phase.

Ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents are of growing interest as solvents for the resource-efficient synthesis of inorganic materials. This Review covers chemical reactions of various deep eutectic solvents and types of ionic liquids, including metal-containing ionic liquids, [BF4 ]- - or [PF6 ]- -based ionic liquids, basic ionic liquids, and chalcogen-containing ionic liquids. Cases in which cations, anions, or both are incorporated into the final products are also included. The purpose of this Review is to raise caution about the chemical reactivity of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents and to establish a guide for their proper use.

Inorganic Synthesis Based on Reactions of Ionic Liquids and Deep Eutectic Solvents.

Ionic liquids for nano- and microstructures preparation. Part 2: Application in synthesis

The sensing potential of CuO nanoparticles synthesized via precipitation from a water/ionic liquid precursor (ILP) mixture was investigated. The particles have a moderate surface area of 66 m2/g after synthesis, which decreases upon thermal treatment to below 5 m2/g. Transmission electron microscopy confirms crystal growth upon annealing, likely due to sintering effects. The as-synthesized particles can be used for ethanol sensing. The respective sensors show fast response and recovery times of below 10 s and responses greater than 2.3 at 100 ppm of ethanol at 200 °C, which is higher than any CuO-based ethanol sensor described so far.

CuO nanoparticles from the Strongly Hydrated Ionic Liquid Precursor (ILP) Tetrabutylammonium Hydroxide evaluation of the Ethanol Sensing Activity

Cerium molybdate (Ce–Mo) hierarchical architectures (such as the flowerlike, microspheric, and bundlelike structure) are successfully synthesized via a facile route with the assistance of amino acid (lysine, Lys). The influences of reaction parameters on the crystal structure and morphology of Ce–Mo hierarchical architectures are investigated. Samples obtained are characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Furthermore, the photocatalytic and adsorption performances of samples obtained are investigated using different dyes, such as Cationic red X-GTL, Congo red, Methylene blue, Acid blue 80, and Methyl orange, as the model. Synthesis of Cerium Molybdate Hierarchical Architectures and Their Novel Photocatalytic and Adsorption Performances

Microwave irradiation could allow a more efficient and homogeneous heating of the reaction mixture to result in a fast synthesis. We propose a facile route for the synthesis of ZnO particles from an ionic liquid precursor with the assistance of microwave heating in which the ionic liquid has multifunctions (adsorbing microwave and acting as solvent, reactant, template) in the particle formation process. It demonstrates that ZnO particles with uniform size and morphology could be synthesized from tetrabutylammonium hydroxide ionic liquid precursor by the microwave heating method. Room temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy is measured to reveal the optical property of the as-obtained products. Moreover, the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized ZnO particles for the degradation of Rhodamine B is investigated.
