Systematic feature selection improves accuracy of methylation-based forensic age estimation in Han Chinese males.
Lei Feng,Fuduan Peng,Li Shanfei,Li Jiang,Hui Sun,Anquan Ji,Changqing Zeng,Cai-Xia Li,Fan Liu,Fan Liu +9 more
TL;DR: Overall, the systematic feature selection identified 9 CpG sites as the optimal subset for forensic age estimation and the prediction model consisting of these 9 markers demonstrated high potential in forensic practice.

A stepwise strategy to distinguish menstrual blood from peripheral blood by Fisher's discriminant function.
He Hongxia,Anquan Ji,Yixia Zhao,Na Han,Hu Sheng,Qinglan Kong,Li Jiang,Jian Ye,Yao Liu,Yao Liu,Qi-Fan Sun +10 more
TL;DR: A strategy for identifying menstrual and peripheral blood based on Fisher’s discriminant function and the relative expression of multiple miRNAs was established and the results provide a scientific reference to address the difficult forensic problem of distinguishing menstrual blood from peripheral blood.

Genetic polymorphisms and haplotypic structure analysis of the Guizhou Gelao ethnic group based on 35 Y-STR loci.
Xiaojuan Wang,Li Jiang,Enfang Qian,Fei Long,Wei Cui,Ji Anquan,Fangshun Zhang,Kang Zou,Jiang Huang,Cai Xia Li +9 more
TL;DR: In this research, 35 Y-chromosomal short tandem repeat (Y-STR) loci were analyzed in 286 unrelated healthy Gelao male individuals from Guizhou Province, China and demonstrated that the Gelao group has a closer genetic relationship with the Guiz Zhou Han and Guizzhou Miao groups than other groups.

Global analysis of population stratification using a smart panel of 27 continental ancestry-informative SNPs
Li Jiang,Yi-Liang Wei,Lei Zhao,Na Li,Tao Liu,Hai-Bo Liu,Li-Jie Ren,Jiu-Ling Li,Hui-Fang Hao,Qing Li,Cai-Xia Li +10 more
TL;DR: An ancestral inference panel of a small number of highly informative SNPs in combination with a large-scale reference database provides a high-resolution in estimating ancestry compositions and distinguishing individual origins.

Exploring the ancestry differentiation and inference capacity of the 28-plex AISNPs.
Wei-Qi Hao,Jing Liu,Li Jiang,Jun-Ping Han,Ling Wang,Jiu-Ling Li,Quan Ma,Chao Liu,Hui-Jun Wang,Cai-Xia Li +9 more
TL;DR: A single-tube 28-plex SNP assay is developed in which the SNPs were chosen from the 31 allelic loci of the Global AIMs Nano set, developed by de la Puente et al. to validate the differentiating capacity using more samples.
