N-Heterocyclic carbenes on close-packed coinage metal surfaces: bis-carbene metal adatom bonding scheme of monolayer films on Au, Ag and Cu
Li Jiang,Bodong Zhang,Guillaume Médard,Ari P. Seitsonen,Felix Haag,Francesco Allegretti,Joachim Reichert,Bernhard Kuster,Johannes V. Barth,Anthoula C. Papageorgiou +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the binding and self-assembly of a saturated molecular layer of model N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) on Cu(111), Ag(111) and Au( 111) surfaces under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions were investigated by means of scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and complementary density functional theory (DFT).

COVID-19 and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children and adolescents
Li Jiang,Kun Tang,Michael Levin,Omar Irfan,Shaun K. Morris,Karen M. Wilson,Jonathan D. Klein,Zulfiqar A Bhutta +7 more
- 01 Sep 2020
TL;DR: Analysis of epidemiology, causes, clinical features, and current treatment protocols for multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children and adolescents associated with COVID-19 provides evidence for the need to develop a clear case definition and treatment protocol for this new condition.

Catalytic Hydrogenation and Hydrodeoxygenation of Furfural over Pt(111): A Model System for the Rational Design and Operation of Practical Biomass Conversion Catalysts
Martin J. Taylor,Li Jiang,Joachim Reichert,Anthoula C. Papageorgiou,Simon K. Beaumont,Karen Wilson,Adam F. Lee,Johannes V. Barth,Georgios Kyriakou +8 more
TL;DR: Temperature-programmed reaction spectrometry and complementary scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) are employed to investigate furfural adsorption and reactivity over a Pt(111) model catalyst, revealing the formation of hydrogen-bonded networks for planarfurfural, which favor decarbonylation on clean Pt( 111) and hydrogenolysis in the presence of coadsorbed hydrogen.
