Engineering the Dissipation of Crystalline Micromechanical Resonators
Erick Romero,Victor M. Valenzuela,Atieh Ranjbar Kermany,Leo Sementilli,Francesca Iacopi,Warwick P. Bowen +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a back-side etching process for single-crystal silicon carbide microresonators is proposed to achieve a quality factor exceeding a million in silicon trampoline resonators at room temperature, a factor of five higher than those achieved without removing the interfacial defect layer.
Nanomechanical Dissipation and Strain Engineering
TL;DR: Nanomechanical resonators have applications in a wide variety of technologies ranging from biochemical sensors to mobile communications, quantum computing, inertial sensing, and precision navigation as mentioned in this paper.
