TL;DR: In this article, the authors highlight the potential for metacognitive therapy (MCT) to be an effective alternative approach in the treatment of alcohol-use disorders and propose that the combination of motivational interviewing (MI) and MCT is a promising new approach that has theoretical underpinnings and could provide positive benefits.
