Objectives: Current evidence supporting the effectiveness of psychotherapy for the treatment of Binge Eating Disorder (BED) indicates that there is still a need to improve outcomes by investigating the application of new developments in psychotherapy for the treatment of BED. Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) has been successfully applied for the management of several psychological disorders. However, to date, there has been no published research in the area of MCT for BED. Method: The current study employed a case series design to explore the application of MCT for BED. Three participants engaged in 12 weeks of MCT treatment. Results: All participants no longer met criteria for BED at the end of therapy and displayed significant improvement on the Emotional Overeating Questionnaire (EOQ) and Binge Eating Scale (BES) at both post-treatment and at 2-month follow-up. Results on the Metacognitive Questionnaire (MCQ-30) suggest that MCT, as an intervention for BED, may target positive metacognitions and, to a lesser extent, negative metacognitions. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that MCT is a promising intervention in the treatment of BED, warranting further investigation.

Metacognitive therapy for binge eating disorder: A case series study


 Few studies have investigated the feasibility of researching brief forms of dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) for borderline personality disorder (BPD) in public mental health settings. This study aimed to provide preliminary evidence for the feasibility of implementing DBT over a 6-month period for BPD symptoms within Australian public mental health services. Of the 79 participants with BPD recruited, 62 commenced and 24 participants completed the therapy. The participants attended one of three outpatient DBT programmes and completed measures of BPD symptoms, DBT skills-use, and difficulties with emotion regulation at baseline and after 6 months of treatment. A major challenge with feasibility identified was the high attrition rate (61%). However, for completers there were significant improvements in BPD symptoms, DBT skills-use, and difficulties with emotion regulation. These effect sizes were used to estimate the sample sizes needed by future larger trials of brief DBT for BPD in public health settings. The implementation of brief DBT for BPD patients within a public mental health outpatient setting, appears to result in significant reductions in BPD symptoms. However, further exploration of strategies to reduce drop-out rates are required.

A Feasibility Study Investigating Mechanisms of Change in Public Mental Health Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Programmes

INTRODUCTION: The development of information technology has led to the renewal of teaching methods, and cloud translation combining offline and online learning has become a trend in higher education. 
OBJECTIVES: It is becoming increasingly apparent that the "surface issues" of blended learning are being addressed, especially the lack of consistency in online task development, which leads to inefficiencies in deep understanding. 
METHODS: Through literature research, the factors affecting task planning in cloud translation are analyzed, and a cloud computing task planning model is established based on task learning theory. 
RESULTS: The results show that task-based cloud translation can increase students' learning engagement and that targeted group task design is critical in improving students' interest and translation skills. 
CONCLUSION: Using complex task modeling can improve the academic level of translation students and increase their involvement in translation projects.

Translation Service Implementation in Cloud: Automation Trends in English Translation Industry

There is evidence that Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) is an effective intervention for reducing psychotic symptoms. The recently updated Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists clinical practice guidelines (RANZCP CPG) recommend CBTp for the therapeutic management of schizophrenia and related disorders. Translational research is required to examine how well CBTp can be applied into public mental health services. This feasibility study aimed to provide preliminary evidence on how acceptable, implementable, and adaptable individual or group CBTp may be within a public mental health service in Australia. Twenty-seven participants initially agreed to participate in the study with 16 participants being randomised to either group or individual therapy, 11 starting therapy and 7 completing therapy. The intervention involved approximately 20 h of manualised CBTp. Attendance was higher in the individual therapy. Subjective reports indicated that the therapy was acceptable to all completers. Participants who engaged in individual or group CBTp experienced a similar level of reduction in the severity of hallucinations and delusions. Individual CBTp may be a feasible, acceptable, and effective intervention to include in Australian public mental health services. A pilot trial is now required to provide further evidence for and guidance of how best to translate CBTp protocols to Australian mental health services.

A Feasibility Study of the Translation of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Psychosis into an Australian Adult Mental Health Clinical Setting

Although the consumption of alcohol has been part of the collective psyche of Australians since colonization, the overconsumption of alcohol has been, and continues to be, a significant problem for the Australian community. Currently, motivational interviewing (MI) and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) are seen as the standard psychological interventions for alcohol-use disorders. Despite these approaches demonstrating significant positive effects in the treatment of these difficulties, they are not without limitations. There is therefore a need to continue exploring the application of novel psychotherapeutic developments to the treatment of problematic drinking behaviors. This chapter highlights the potential for metacognitive therapy (MCT) to be an effective alternative approach in the treatment of alcohol-use disorders. Firstly, the history and significance of problematic drinking behaviors in Australia are briefly outlined, and the literature regarding MI and CBT is summarized. A metacognitive conceptual model for alcohol use is outlined and discussed. Two brief case studies are put forward to illustrate the application of MCT for the treatment of alcohol abuse and dependence. From this discussion we propose that the combination ofMI and MCT is a promising new approach that has theoretical underpinnings and could provide positive benefits in the treatment of alcohol-use disorders.
