Childhood and Adolescent Adversity and Cardiometabolic Outcomes: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association.
Shakira F. Suglia,Karestan C. Koenen,Renée Boynton-Jarrett,Paul S. Chan,Cari Jo Clark,Andrea Danese,Myles S. Faith,Benjamin I. Goldstein,Laura L. Hayman,Carmen R. Isasi,Charlotte A. Pratt,Natalie Slopen,Jennifer A. Sumner,Aslan T. Turer,Christy B. Turer,Justin P. Zachariah +15 more

Reduction of Risk for Cardiovascular Disease in Children and Adolescents
TL;DR: It is found that even relatively advanced levels of atherosclerosis, including fibrous plaques, can be present in adolescents and young adults, and increased body mass index (BMI), systolic and diastolic blood pressures, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were all associated with greater atherosclerotic plaque coverage and more advanced atherosolic lesions.
