Facile and reproducible syntheses of bis(dialkylselenophosphenyl)-selenides and -diselenides: X-ray structures of (iPr2PSe)2Se, (iPr2PSe)2Se2 and (Ph2PSe)2Se

Intermediate species dichlorosilylene was generated in situ from trichlorosilane and inserted into the P-Cl bond of diphenylchlorophosphine (Ph2P-Cl) to obtain Ph2P-SiCl3 (1). Monodechlorination of 1 by cyclic alkyl(amino) carbenes (cAACs)/KC8 in THF at low temperature led to the formation of stable radicals Ph2P-Si(cAAC·)Cl2 (2a,b). Compounds 2a,b were characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, mass spectrometry and studied by cyclic voltammetry and theoretical calculations. Radical properties of 2 are confirmed by EPR measurements that suggest the radical electron in 2 couples with (14)N (I = 1), (35/37)Cl (I = 3/2), and (31)P (I = 1/2) nuclei leading to multiple hyperfine lines. Hyperfine coupling parameters computed from DFT calculations are in good agreement with those of experimental values. Electronic distributions obtained from the theoretical calculations suggest that the radical electron mostly resides on the carbene C of 2.

Stable Radicals from Commonly Used Precursors Trichlorosilane and Diphenylchlorophosphine

The synthesis and characterisation of the reactive tetrakis (O,O-phosphorus)-Bridged calix[4]resorcinols 3 and 4 is described. Because of its poor solubility in common organic solvents, a solid-state NMR investigation of 3 (1H, 13C, 31P) was conducted. Reaction of 3 with MeMgl, Me3 SiMNe2, and HNMe2 furnished the η3γ3P-substituted cavitands 5 and 6. Oxidative addition reactions of 6 with the (H2N)2C(=O)/H2O2 (1:1) adduct, tetrachloro-o-benzoquinone (TOB), and hexafluoroacetone (HFA) led to the η4γ5P derivative 7, and to the η5γ5P derivatives 8 and 9. An X-ray crystal-structure determination of the tetrakis(O,O-phosphorus)-bridged calix[4]resorcinol 4 has been conduced. The framework displays the cone conformation; the chlorine atoms are directed inwards.

Trichlorosilylation of chlorogermanes and chlorostannanes with HSiCl3/Net3 followed by base-catalysed formation of (Me3Ge)2Si(SiCl3)2 and related branched stannylsilanes

Reduction of the isoprene—PCl3 adduct 1 with magnesium powder, or with Si2Cl6, furnished P-chloro-3-methyl-phosphol-2-ene, 2, in satisfactory yield. Further reduction of 2 with Si2Cl6 gave the new trichlorosilyl-3-methylphosphol-2-ene, 3. The reaction of 2 with magnesium powder, with 3, or with 1/2 equivalent of Si2Cl6 provided the new γ3P-γP-diphosphane 1,1′-bi(3-methylphosphol-2-ene) 4. Reduction of 4 with Si2Cl6 led to 3. Oxidation of 4 with selenium gave the 1,2-diphosphane diselenide, 5. The oxidation of 4 with hexafluoroacetone led to a mixture of products, from which a novel tricyclic phosphorane 6 was separated. the structure of 196 was determined by X-ray diffraction; the coordination geometry at phosphorus in distorted trigonal bipyramidal, with a very long equatorial P—C(CF3)2 bond of 193.2(2) pm.
