Effect of urgent treatment of transient ischaemic attack and minor stroke on early recurrent stroke (EXPRESS study): a prospective population-based sequential comparison.
Peter M. Rothwell,Matthew F. Giles,Arvind Chandratheva,Lars Marquardt,Olivia C. Geraghty,Jessica Redgrave,Caroline E. Lovelock,L E Binney,Linda M. Bull,Fiona C. Cuthbertson,Sarah J.V. Welch,Shelley Bosch,Faye Carasco-Alexander,Louise E. Silver,Sergei A. Gutnikov,Ziyah Mehta +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of more rapid treatment after transient ischaemic attack (TIA) and minor stroke in patients who are not admitted direct to hospital was investigated. But the results were limited to patients with TIA or minor stroke not admitted directly to hospital.

Effect of urgent treatment of transient ischaemic attack and minor stroke on early recurrent stroke (EXPRESS study) : a prospective population-based sequential comparison. Commentery
Naeem Dean,Ashfaq Shuaib,Peter M. Rothwell,Matthew F. Giles,Arvind Chandratheva,Lars Marquardt,Olivia C. Geraghty,Jessica Redgrave,Caroline E. Lovelock,L E Binney,Linda M. Bull,Fiona C. Cuthbertson,Sarah J.V. Welch,Shelley Bosch,Faye Carasco-Alexander,Louise E. Silver,Sergei A. Gutnikov,Ziyah Mehta +17 more
TL;DR: Early initiation of existing treatments after TIA or minor stroke was associated with an 80% reduction in the risk of early recurrent stroke, and early treatment did not increase therisk of intracerebral haemorrhage or other bleeding.

Continuous Stroke Unit Electrocardiographic Monitoring Versus 24-Hour Holter Electrocardiography for Detection of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation After Stroke
Timolaos Rizos,Janina Güntner,Ekkehart Jenetzky,Lars Marquardt,Christine Reichardt,Rüdiger Becker,Roland Reinhardt,Thomas Hepp,Paulus Kirchhof,Elena Aleynichenko,Peter A. Ringleb,Werner Hacke,Roland Veltkamp +12 more
TL;DR: Automated analysis of CEM improves pxAF detection in patients with stroke on stroke units compared with 24-hour Holter ECG, and the comparative usefulness of prolonged or repetitive HolterECG recordings requires further evaluation.

Stroke Risk After Posterior Circulation Stroke/Transient Ischemic Attack and its Relationship to Site of Vertebrobasilar Stenosis Pooled Data Analysis From Prospective Studies
TL;DR: Symptomatic VB stenosis, particularly intracranial stenosis is a strong independent predictor of stroke recurrence, and provides a strong rationale for randomized trials to determine whether stenting can reduce risk.

Preliminary Evidence of a High Risk of Bleeding on Aspirin plus Clopidogrel in Aspirin-Naïve Patients in the Acute Phase after TIA or Minor Ischaemic Stroke
Olivia C. Geraghty,J Kennedy,Arvind Chandratheva,Lars Marquardt,Alastair M. Buchan,Peter M. Rothwell +5 more
TL;DR: Although based on relatively few outcomes, the high risk of major bleeding on A+C acutely after TIA or minor stroke in aspirin-naïve patients is a cause for concern and the potential risk to patients is sufficient to mandate detailed monitoring of bleeding risk in ongoing trials.
