Novel Air-float Tactile Array for Stiffness Characterization in Soft Tissue Palpation
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a feasibility study of a novel air-float palpation probe for stiffness characterization in soft tissues, which can move over soft tissues in any direction in a near frictionless manner.

Incremental 3d body reconstruction framework for robotic telepresence applications
Luis Almeida,Paulo Menezes,Lakmal Seneviratne,Jorge Dias +3 more
- 01 Jan 2011
TL;DR: This research proposes an on-line incremental 3D reconstruction framework that can be used on telepresence robots or human robot interaction (HRI) that enables users to communicate and interact remotely experiencing the benefits of a face-to-face meeting.

3D shortest path planning in the presence of polyhedral obstacles
K. Jiang,Lakmal Seneviratne,S.W.E. Earles +2 more
- 17 Oct 1993
TL;DR: In this article, an approach for shortest path planning in 3D space in the presence of convex polyhedra is presented. It is based on a visibility graph which is extended from two dimensional space into 3D one and a collineation is introduced for identification of visible edges in the three dimensional visibility graph.

Real-Time Adaptive Dynamics Based State Estimation Scheme for Unmanned Aircrafts
TL;DR: A state estimation scheme for Unmanned Aircrafts (UAs) utilizing dynamics based models and multi-sensor data fusion, which doesn’t demand prior knowledge of the UA physical parameters, and produces smooth estimates that leads to a reduction of controller action, when compared to kinematic based estimators.
