Water movement in a finite layer: absorption for constant water content at the surfaces
TL;DR: In this article, an analytical formulation was proposed to describe the outflow of water from a soil layer when the potentials (water contents) are maintained constant at both surfaces, and the accuracy of the results was checked by comparison with a precise numerical simulation which was greatly simplified for a Brooks and Corey type diffusivity.

Water movement in a finite layer : influence of gravity for constant water content at the surface
J.-Y. Parlange,Carlos Fuentes,L. D. Connell,U. Hornung,Randel Haverkamp,W. L. Hogarth,R. Peters,David E. Elrick +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the flow of water in a finite soil layer is analyzed with gravity, extending an earlier non-gravitational theory, and analytical approximations are obtained to predict the outflow at the lower surface when the potentials at the upper and lower surfaces are fixed.
