5-aryl isoxazolines for controlling invertebrate pests

This invention provides compounds of Formula (I), N -oxides and suitable salts thereof INSERT FORMULA I HERE wherein R1 is Me, Cl, Br or F; R2 is F, Cl, Br, C1-C4 haloalkyl or C1-C4 haloalkoxy; R3 is F, Cl or Br; R4 is H or C1-C4 alkyl,C3-C4 alkenyl, C3-C4 alkynyl, C3-C5 cycloalkyl, or C4-C6 cycloalkylalkyl, each optionally substituted with one substituent selected from the group consisting of halogen, CN, SMe S(O)Me, S(O)2Me and OMe; R5 is H or Me; R6 is H, F or Cl; and R7 is H, F or Cl. Also disclosed are methods for controlling an invertebrate pest comprising contacting the invertebrate pest or its environment with a biologically effective amount of a compound of Formula (I), an N-oxide thereof or a suitable salt of the compound (e.g., as a composition described herein). This invention also pertains to a composition for controlling an invertebrate pest comprising a biologically effective amount of a compound of Formula (I), an N-oxide thereof or a suitable salt of the compound and at least one additional component selected from the group consisting of a surfactant, a solid diluent and a liquid diluent.

Disclosed are compounds of Formula (I), wherein R1 is halogen, C1-C2 haloalkyl or C1-C2 haloalkoxy; R2 is H, halogen or cyano; R3 is H, halogen or CF3; R4 is H, C2-C7 alkylcarbonyl or C2-C7 alkoxycarbonyl; and R5 is C1-C6 alkyl or C1-C6 haloalkyl, each substituted with one substituent independently selected from hydroxy, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkylthio, C1-C6 alkylsulfinyl, C1-C6 alkylsulfonyl, C2-C7 alkylaminocarbonyl, C3-C9 dialkylaminocarbonyl, C2-C7 haloalkylaminocarbonyl and C3-C9 halodialkylaminocarbonyl. Also disclosed are compositions containing the compounds of Formula (I) and methods for controlling an invertebrate pest comprising contacting the invertebrate pest or its environment with a biologically effective amount of a compound or a composition of the invention.

Naphthalene Isoxazoline Invertebrate Pest Control Agents

A composition contains an active agent combination of: 2-(2-chloro-3-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxymethyl)-4-methylsulfonyl-benzoyl)-cyclohexane-1,3-dione (I); and at least one of about 55 other specific herbicides, e.g. ethoxysulfuron, formasulfuron, atrazine, 2,4-D, dicamba, acetochlor, pendimethalin, diflufenican, glyphosate or glufosinate. A herbicidal composition contains an active agent combination of: (a) 2-(2-chloro-3-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxymethyl)-4-methylsulfonyl-benzoyl)-cyclohexane-1,3-dione (I) or its salt; and (b) at least one other herbicide selected from: (i) the branched aminoacid biosynthesis inhibitors ethoxysulfuron, flumetsulam, halosulfuron, imazamox, imazapyr, imazaquin, imazethapyr, metosulam, nicosulfuron, primisulfuron, prosulfuron, rimsulfuron, thifensulfuron-methyl, triflusulfuron and foramsulfuron; (ii) the photosynthesis electron transport inhibitors ametryne, atrazine, bromoxynil, cyanazine, diuron, hexazinone, metribuzin, pyridate and terbuthylazine; (iii) the synthetic auxins 2,4-D, clopyralid, dicamba, diflufenzopyr and fluroxypyr; (iv) the fatty acid biosynthesis inhibitors butylate, EPTC and fenoxaprop-P-ethyl; (v) the mitosis inhibitors acetochlor, alachlor, dimethenamid, flufenacet, mefenacet, metolachlor, thenylchlor and S-metalochlor, (6) the protoporphyrinogen oxidase inhibitors fluthiacet-methyl and carfentrazone-ethyl; (vi) the hydroxyphenyl pyruvate dioxygenase inhibitors isoxaflutole, mesotrione, sulcotrione and 4-(4-trifluoromethyl-2-methylsulfonyl-benzoyl)-5-hydroxy-1-methyl-3-methylpyrazole; (vii) glyphosate; (viii) pendimethalin; (ix) trifluralin; (x) asulam; (xi) triaziflam; (xii) diflufenican; and (xiii) glufosinate-ammonium. The weight ratio of (A) to (B) is 1-2000:2000-1. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling undesirable weed growth, involving applying the combination of (A) and (B) to at least part of the plants or to the plant growth area. ACTIVITY : Herbicide. In post-emergence tests, the herbicidal ratings against Galium aparine were 50 % for 75 g/ha of (I), 30 % for 200 g/ha of atrazine and 90 % (compared with a predicted value of 68 %) for a combination of 75 g/ha (Ia) and 200 g/ha atrazine.
