RESUMO A indústria automotiva está em constante busca pela diminuição do peso dos veículos, visando menor consumo de combustível e, conseqüentemente, a redução da emissão de gases tóxicos à atmosfera. Nesse contexto, foi desenvolvido o aço assistido pelo efeito TRIP, com o objetivo de aliar elevada resistência mecânica e ductilidade, características associadas tanto à sua microestrutura multiconstituída como à possibilidade de transformação da austenita retida em martensita durante a deformação plástica. Neste trabalho foram analisados os efeitos de três diferentes rotas de processamento térmico e da variação do tempo de austêmpera na microestrutura final e na dureza de um aço com baixo teor de carbono, de forma a obter uma microestrutura multiconstituída com a presença de austenita retida, o que possibilitaria a ocorrência do efeito TRIP. Os ciclos investigados envolveram etapa intercrítica seguida por austêmpera (ciclo CD), além de etapas prévias à intercrítica - têmpera (ciclo CT) e austenitização completa (ciclo CC). Observou-se que a aplicação dos ciclos térmicos distintos resultou em microestruturas cujos constituintes apresentaram distribuição, dimensões e morfologias diferentes entre si e que a elevação do tempo de austêmpera favoreceu a formação de bainita, reduzindo a quantidade de constituinte MA. Foi verificado ainda que, para os três ciclos, essa elevação do tempo de austêmpera provocou um aumento na proporção de austenita retida e de seu teor de carbono e uma redução nos valores de dureza verificados para o material.

Análise microestrutural de um aço assistido pelo efeito TRIP obtido a partir de três diferentes ciclos térmicos

In this paper, the TRIP590 steel was used for C-Mn partitioning. The influence of C-Mn partitioning on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the steel was studied. SEM, EPMA, XRD and tensile tests were used to characterize the microstructure of the tested steel, calculate the content of retained austenite, and analyze the enrichment of C atoms and Mn atoms and mechanical properties. The results show that there was a lot of lath martensite and scattered ferrite in the microstructures of the Q&P steel and C-Mn partitioning steel. After C-Mn partitioning, the content of ferrite was increased. The enrichment of C and Mn in the C-Mn partitioning steel was relatively apparent, and the concentration of the atoms in the center of martensite was significantly higher than at the boundary between martensite and ferrite. Mn-rich areas were also C-rich areas. Compared with the Q&P steel, the C-Mn partitioning steel had a larger amount of retained austenite, higher elongation and PSE.

EFFECT OF C-Mn PARTITIONING ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF TRIP STEEL

A novel two-step cooling experiment was established to simulate the slow cooling process of continuous annealing production line for transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steel. The microstructures and mechanical properties of TRIP steel soaked at 700 °C for different time were investigated by tensile test, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and thermodynamic and kinetic calculation. It is shown that the steel soaked for 15 s exhibits the optimal product of strength and elongation (PSE > 30,000 MPa%) due to the transformation of austenite to proeutectoid ferrite, which delays the bainite transformation and improves the stability of retained austenite. In addition, the mechanical properties of TRIP steel soaked over 30 s are much lower, resulting from the precipitation of cementite, which decreases the stability of retained austenite and weakens the TRIP effect.
