Ease of use and usefulness are believed to be fundamental in determining the acceptance and use of various, corporate ITs. These beliefs, however, may not explain the user’s behavior toward newly emerging ITs, such as the World-Wide-Web (WWW). In this study, we introduce playfulness as a new factor that reflects the user’s intrinsic belief in WWW acceptance. Using it as an intrinsic motivation factor, we extend and empirically validate the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for the WWW context. # 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Beyond the Usefulness and Ease of Use : Extending the TAM for a World - Wide - Web Context

Two decades was systematically reviewed on fuzzy MCDM techniques from 1994 to 2014.The database for review was 403 papers from more than 150 high-ranking journals.403 scholarly papers were grouped in four different main fields.Papers were classified based on utilizing, developing and proposing research papers. MCDM is considered as a complex decision-making tool involving both quantitative and qualitative factors. In recent years, several fuzzy FMCDM tools have been suggested to choosing the optimal probably options. The purpose of this paper is to review systematically the applications and methodologies of the fuzzy multi decision-making (FMCDM) techniques. This study reviewed a total of 403 papers published from 1994 to 2014 in more than 150 peer reviewed journals (extracted from online databases such as ScienceDirect, Springer, Emerald, Wiley, ProQuest, and Taylor & Francis). According to experts' opinions, these papers were grouped into four main fields: engineering, management and business, science, and technology. Furthermore, these papers were categorized based on authors, publication date, country of origin, methods, tools, and type of research (FMCDM utilizing research, FMCDM developing research, and FMCDM proposing research). The results of this study indicated that, in 2013, scholars have published papers more than other years. In addition, hybrid fuzzy MCDM in the integrated method and fuzzy AHP in the individual section were ranked as the first and second methods in use. Additionally, Taiwan was ranked as the first country that contributed to this survey, and engineering was ranked as the first field that has applied fuzzy DM tools and techniques.

Fuzzy multiple criteria decision-making techniques and applications - Two decades review from 1994 to 2014

This article presents the first narrative analysis of the areas of research that have developed within the destination marketing field since its commencement in 1973. Given the broad extent of the field, and the absence of any previous reviews in four decades, a key challenge is in providing a focus for such a disparate body of knowledge. The review is structured around one principal question: ‘To what extent is the Destination Marketing Organisation (DMO) responsible for the competitiveness of the destination’? In pursuit of this underlying question, we address a number of themes including nomenclature and the DMO, the evolution of the destination marketing literature, competitiveness as the DMO reason d’etre, and DMO effectiveness including issues of branding and positioning, and future research themes in the field.

Several quality thought leaders have considered the role of knowledge in quality management practices. For example, Deming proposed The Deming System of Profound Knowledge™ that dealt explicitly with knowledge. However, various authors in the quality field diverge considerably when contemplating knowledge. We propose an integrated view of quality and knowledge using Nonaka's theory of knowledge creation. This integrated view helps illuminate how quality practices can lead to knowledge creation and retention. The knowledge perspective also provides insight into what it means to effectively deploy quality management practices. Previous empirical research noted the importance of effective deployment, but provided little insight into what effective deployment means. This research argues that quality management practices create knowledge, which leads to organizational performance. Taking a knowledge-based view (KBV) of the firm provides a deeper understanding of why some organizations are more successful at deploying quality management practices than others.

Integrating quality management practices with knowledge creation processes

To enhance the transparency of the supply chain and ensure proper dissemination of information among the supply chain members in a timely manner, more and more companies are implementing supply chain information system (SCIS). Often the challenge among the organizations is how to go for a proper SCIS implementation and to identify the key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the SCIS. The purpose of this paper is to provide a framework to evaluate the KPIs for SCIS of SCISs implementation from user’s perspectives.,In this paper, 16 KPIs were identified based on extensive literature survey. A fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model is constructed to measure the users’ perceived importance and satisfaction for the KPIs. Subsequently, based on these two measurements, an importance-performance analysis (IPA) model along with a customer satisfaction attitude (SA) index is developed to categorize and prioritize the KPIs. As an empirical study, SCIS users across five industries belonging to different sectors were investigated to validate the model.,An IPA model along with a customer SA index is developed based on a fuzzy AHP model to evaluate the KPIs and provide the priorities of their improvement. Based on this result, some management implications and suggestions are proposed.,The study was limited to five organizations. More representative samples which can be sector specific can ensure better confirmation of the empirical results.,The KPIs identified in the research indicate the nature and dynamics of a complex SCIS implementation. It can serve as a checklist of areas that require attention when implementing a SCIS. The KPIs are presented through grouping in a systemic way. The development of the SAs in IPA model using fuzzy AHP is a novel approach.

Humanitarian supply chain management (HSCM) in today’s environment faces the challenges such as information availability, inventory management, collaboration, logistics related issues and preparedness The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the HSCM performance, considering the consequences in terms of operation, recovery and responsiveness based on the fuzzy estimates of the components presented




Design/methodology/approach




In the study, triangulation approach was adapted for collecting data and developing a hierarchical structure for humanitarian supply chain performance assessment The relationships between HSCM performance and its suddenness and required preparedness are depicted by cause and effect diagrams The concepts of fuzzy association and fuzzy composition are applied to identify relationships




Findings




In the hierarchy presented, the performance in a disaster situation, preparedness and suddenness of the situation and factors that influence the above are modeled The taxonomy is developed for describing the relationship between factors, their likelihoods and impacts to achieve consistent quantification




Research limitations/implications




The study considers case studies from Indian conditions; however, conditions in other countries and their practices for the disaster management may vary to certain extent




Practical implications




A methodology presented for evaluating the exposures in considering the consequences in terms of responsiveness, operations, recovery, mitigation and emergency response The study may help the humanitarian relief practitioners to understand the insights of the disaster situations using the proposed framework




Originality/value




A common language for describing the different factors of HSCM is presented, which includes terms for quantifying likelihoods and impacts The concept of fuzzy association and fuzzy composition has been applied to identify relationships between sources and consequences on HSCM performance The use of descriptive linguistic variables is ensured through the implementation of fuzzy logic

Managing the humanitarian supply chain: a fuzzy logic approach

The purpose of the research was to understand the inherent questions related to supply risk and its management. The task was to investigate how organizations discover and assess the existing supply risk to establish the extent of losses, the likelihood of potential losses, and the significance of potential losses. Case studies of six purchasing organizations were conducted to investigate how those purchasing organizations perceive and manage supply risk. The case organizations defined perfect order in relation to supply risk in terms of meeting complete and correct order, defect free, and the financial effect. The organizations implement supply management techniques that focus on quality and supplier improvement that had a secondary purpose to discover supply risk. The research findings can provide supply managers insights into techniques for proactively discovering and assessing supply risk. A combination of some or all of these techniques can be integrated for proactively understanding the supply risk that exists, and the potential impact that risk would have.
