TL;DR: Fourty-four male Sprague-Dawley rats (~8 weeks old) were used throughout the studies and all procedures were performed during the light phase and in accordance with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Animal Care and Use Committee and NIH guidelines for ethical treatment of research subjects.

TL;DR: This study did not demonstrate a relationship between neurosteroid, stress, and amphetamine responses as the authors hypothesized, and more research will need to be performed to observe to what extent neurosteroids could be involved in addiction.
