Developing a hybrid PSO---ANN model for estimating the ultimate bearing capacity of rock-socketed piles
Danial Jahed Armaghani,Raja Shahrom Nizam Shah Raja Shoib,Koohyar Faizi,Ahmad Safuan A. Rashid +3 more
TL;DR: This analysis revealed that the hybrid PSO–ANN model offers a higher degree of accuracy compared to conventional ANN for predicting the Qu of rock-socketed piles, however, the developed model would be most useful in the preliminary stages of pile design and should be used with caution.

Investigating the monotonic behaviour of hybrid tripod suction bucket foundations for offshore wind towers in sand
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a hybrid tripod bucket foundation for offshore wind turbines, which consists of a conventional tripod bucket combined with three large circular mats attached to each bucket, and a series of experiments were conducted on small-scale models of the proposed foundation subjected to overturning moment under 1g conditions in loose sand.

Various effective factors on peak uplift resistance of pipelines in sand: a comparative study
Mohammadreza Koopialipoor,Hossein Tootoonchi,Aminaton Marto,Koohyar Faizi,Danial Jahed Armaghani +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a considerable attention to failure of pipelines should be paid to increase the uplift resistance of pipelines and it can be achieved by increasing the burial depth or utilizing soil improvement techniques.

Finite element modelling of winged suction caissons in clay under uniaxial and combined loading
Laurence Darby,Asaad Faramarzi,Koohyar Faizi,Moura Mehravar,Ouahid Harireche +4 more
- 23 Jun 2019
TL;DR: In this article, a winged suction caisson is proposed to enhance the torsional capacity of the caisson foundation for offshore wind turbines in the form of winged caisson, and finite element models of the proposed foundation are developed to study its performance in clay under torsion loading combined with horizontal and overturning loads.
Finite Element Modelling of the Performance of Hybrid Foundation Systems for Offshore Wind Turbines
Koohyar Faizi,Asaad Faramarzi,Samir Dirar,David Chapman +3 more
- 25 Sep 2018
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the results of a series of numerical simulations predicting the performance of a novel hybrid suction caisson foundation used for offshore wind turbines under overturning moment.
