Novel ionic liquids
Koen Binnemans,Christiane Görller-Walrand,Peter Nockemann,Ben Thijs +3 more
- 21 Jun 2007
TL;DR: In this article, a method for the solubilization of metal oxides and metal salts, for the deposition of metals and for extraction procedures, this by using the novel ionic liquids.

Electrodeposition of neodymium and dysprosium from organic electrolytes
TL;DR: In this paper, a new class of organic electrolytes was developed for the electrodeposition of rare-earth metals at room temperature, consisting of a rare earth bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide or chloride salt and a borohydride salt, dissolved in the ether solvents 1,2dimethoxyethane or 2-methyltetrahydrofuran.
Spectroscopic properties of uranyl crown ether complexes in non-aqueous solvents
TL;DR: The spectroscopic properties of the complexes of uranyl with oxacrowns and cryptands were studied in acetonitrile and propylene carbonate solutions by absorption and luminescence spectroscopy as mentioned in this paper.

Accommodation of the Rare Earths in the Periodic Table: A Historical Analysis
Pieter Thyssen,Koen Binnemans +1 more
TL;DR: The evolution of the position of rare earths in the periodic table from Mendeleev's time to the present has been discussed in this article, where three fundamentally different accommodation methodologies have been proposed over the years.

Comparative Analysis of Processes for Recovery of Rare Earths from Bauxite Residue
TL;DR: In this article, preliminary energy and cost analyses were carried out to assess the feasibility of the proposed processes and showed that the combination of alkali roasting-smelting-quenching-leaching is a promising process for the treatment of bauxite residue and that it is justified to study this process at a pilot scale.
