Recovery of rare earths from waste cathode ray tube (CRT) phosphor powder by selective sulfation roasting and water leaching
TL;DR: In this article, a new approach is introduced where the valuable rare-earth elements (REEs) (i.e. yttrium and europium) in the powder are selectively recovered, leaving behind a zinc-rich residue and glass for further recycling.

Recovery of valuable metals from NdFeB magnets by mechanochemically assisted ferric sulfate leaching
TL;DR: In this paper, a new hydrometallurgical method for the recovery of rare-earth elements and Co from permanent NdFeB magnets by mechanochemically assisted ferric sulfate leaching was developed.

Paramagnetic liposomes containing amphiphilic bisamide derivatives of Gd-DTPA with aromatic side chain groups as possible contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging.
Tatjana N. Parac-Vogt,Kristof Kimpe,Sophie Laurent,Corinne Piérart,Luce Vander Elst,Robert N. Muller,Koen Binnemans +6 more
TL;DR: The paramagnetic liposomes containing the Gd-DTPA bisamide complexes with 14 carbon atoms showed the highest relaxivity because the optimal length match between the hydrophobic chains of the DPPC and the ligand allowed very efficient packing of the paramagnetic complex into the liposome.

Organo-lanthanide complexes as luminescent dopants in polymer waveguides fabricated by hot embossing
Shane Moynihan,R. Van Deun,Koen Binnemans,J. Krueger,G. von Papen,A.K Kewell,Gabriel M. Crean,Gareth Redmond +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a multi-level polymer micro-optical bench incorporating doped channel waveguides and passive locational features for self-alignment and integration of optical fibres is fabricated in a single-level single-step embossing process and is shown to successfully outcouple the wave-guided dopant emission.

Base stable quaternary ammonium ionic liquids
TL;DR: In this article, the bis(2-ethylhexyl)dimethylammonium cation, [BEDMA]+, was prepared by a halide-free route starting from the readily available secondary amine bis( 2-ethyl hexyl)amine, and the following anions were considered: chloride, bromide, iodide, nitrate, hydrogensulphate, dihydrogenphosphate, formate, acetate, propionate, trifluoroacetate, methyl sulphate, methanesulphonate,
