Roland Diel,Forssbohm M,G. Loytved,Walter Haas,Barbara Hauer,D. Maffei,Klaus Magdorf,Albert Nienhaus,Hans L. Rieder,T. Schaberg,Zellweger Jp,Robert Loddenkemper +11 more
TL;DR: Because I GRAs are usually superior to the tuberculin skin test (TST) in detecting latent TB infection (LTBI) with respect to sensitivity and specificity in adult contact populations that are at least partially BCG vaccinated, it is now recommended that instead of two-step testing only IGRAs be used.
Recommendations of the German Central Committee against Tuberculosis (DZK) and the German Respiratory Society (DGP) for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Non-tuberculous Mycobacterioses.
N. Schoenfeld,Walter Haas,Elvira Richter,Torsten T. Bauer,L Boes,Stefanie Castell,Barbara Hauer,Klaus Magdorf,W. Matthiessen,H. Mauch,Annicka Reuss,Karl Schenkel,S Ruesch-Gerdes,P. Zabel,Klaus Dalhoff,Tom Schaberg,R. Loddenkemper +16 more
TL;DR: The present recommendations summarise current aspects of epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical aspects, diagnostics - especially microbiological methods including susceptibility testing -, and specific treatment for the most relevant species of non-tuberculous mycobacteria.

TL;DR: The IL-21R/STAT3 pathway is required for many aspects of human CD8(+) T-cell behavior but in some cases can be compensated by other signals, which helps explain the relatively mild susceptibility to viral disease observed in STAT3- and IL21R-deficient subjects.
