Comparison of circulating tumor cells (CTC) in peripheral blood and disseminated tumor cells in the bone marrow (DTC-BM) of breast cancer patients
Christian Schindlbeck,Ulrich Andergassen,Simone Hofmann,Julia Jückstock,Udo Jeschke,Harald Sommer,Klaus Friese,Wolfgang Janni,Brigitte Rack +8 more
TL;DR: There was significant congruence between DTC and CTC, which even increased in patients at follow-up and in those with metastases, and Repeated CTC examinations could be a valuable tool for monitoring patients or the effectiveness of therapies.

Clinical relevance of occult stress urinary incontinence (OSUI) following vaginal prolapse surgery: long-term follow-up.
Stefanie Ennemoser,Mirjam Schönfeld,Vera von Bodungen,Darius Dian,Klaus Friese,Katharina Jundt +5 more
TL;DR: Despite the preoperative evidence of OSUI, the manifestation of SUI rarely occurs, with 28.1 % of patients experiencing SUI over long-term follow-up after vaginal prolapse surgery, which indicates that with the one-step approach, 54 of 57 patients would have received prophylactic anti-incontinence surgery unnecessarily.

Abstract S6-5: Prognostic Relevance of Circulating Tumor Cells in the Peripheral Blood of Primary Breast Cancer Patients
Brigitte Rack,Christian Schindlbeck,Ulrich Andergassen,Ralf Lorenz,Thomas Zwingers,Andreas Schneeweiss,Werner Lichtenegger,M. W. Beckmann,H. Sommer,Klaus Pantel,Klaus Friese,Wolfgang Janni +11 more
TL;DR: This is the first study to prospectively demonstrate the prognostic relevance of CTC in peripheral blood of early breast cancer patients before the start of systemic treatment in a large patient cohort and should be tested as indicator for secondary adjuvant treatment interventions within clinical trials.
