Impaired functional connectivity at EEG alpha and theta frequency bands in major depression
Andrew A. Fingelkurts,Andrew A. Fingelkurts,Alexander A. Fingelkurts,Alexander A. Fingelkurts,Heikki Rytsälä,Kirsi Suominen,Erkki Isometsä,Seppo Kähkönen,Seppo Kähkönen +8 more
TL;DR: The topology of the most representative functional connections among all patients with major depression indicated that the right anterior and left posterior brain parts may discriminate depressive patients from healthy controls.
Composition of brain oscillations in ongoing EEG during major depression disorder
Alexander A. Fingelkurts,Alexander A. Fingelkurts,Andrew A. Fingelkurts,Andrew A. Fingelkurts,Heikki Rytsälä,Kirsi Suominen,Erkki Isometsä,Erkki Isometsä,Seppo Kähkönen,Seppo Kähkönen +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that major depression affects brain activity in nearly the whole cortex and manifests itself in considerable reorganization of the composition of brain oscillations in a broad frequency range: 0.5-30 Hz.

Adequacy of treatment received by diagnosed and undiagnosed patients with bipolar I and II disorders
TL;DR: Investigation of the adequacy of pharmacotherapy received by psychiatric inpatients and outpatients with a research diagnosis of bipolar I or II disorder, including patients both with and without a clinical diagnosis ofipolar disorder found clinical diagnosis is by far the most important prerequisite for adequate treatment.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated whether the hours of daylight at the birth location affected the association between the age of onset and solar insolation, and found that more daylight at birth location during early life was associated with an older age onset, suggesting reduced vulnerability to the future circadian challenge.

TL;DR: In this paper, a large, significant inverse relationship between maximum monthly increase in solar insolation and age of onset was found for those with a family history of mood disorders, controlling for the country median age and the birth cohort, and the effect was reduced by half if there was no family history.
