Image analysis techniques on evaluation of particle size distribution of gravel
TL;DR: In this paper, an image analysis technique using ImageJ is proposed to evaluate particle size distribution of gravels and some differences of gradation curves determined by sieve analysis and image analysis were observed.

Numerical method for evaluating the lateral resistance of sleepers in ballasted tracks
TL;DR: In this article, a series of laboratory tests were conducted on 1/5-scale models to evaluate the lateral resistance of sleepers, including single-sleeper pullout tests and track panel pullout test on different types of concrete sleepers.

Deformation characteristics of fresh and fouled ballasts subjected to tamping maintenance
TL;DR: In this article, a series of model tests on a scaled-down ballasted railway track was conducted to examine the settlement characteristics of ballast subjected to tamping maintenance application, and particle movements during cyclic loading were tracked using a particle image velocimetry (PIV) approach to study the local deformations induced by the tamping tools.

Evaluation of time-dependent deformation properties of sedimentary soft rock and their constitutive modeling
TL;DR: A triaxial testing system with local axial strain measurements was developed to accurately evaluate the time-dependent deformation properties of sedimentary soft rock as mentioned in this paper, which can predict adequately the measured stress-strain-time behaviour for various time histories of strain (or stress).
