Prehabilitation for kidney transplant candidates: Is it time?
Xingxing S. Cheng,Jonathan Myers,Jonathan Myers,Glenn M. Chertow,Ralph Rabkin,Ralph Rabkin,Khin Chan,Yu Chen,Jane C. Tan +8 more
TL;DR: A clinical framework for physical therapy interventions to improve fitness, scheduled for before the transplant, is proposed to lead to better patient retention and compliance, and thus demonstrate better efficacy in mitigating the effects of frailty and poor fitness after kidney transplantation.

Association Between Cardiorespiratory Fitness and Health Care Costs: The Veterans Exercise Testing Study.
Jonathan Myers,Jonathan Myers,Rachelle Doom,Robert King,Holly Fonda,Khin Chan,Peter Kokkinos,David H. Rehkopf +7 more
- 01 Jan 2018
TL;DR: In a model including historical, clinical, and exercise test responses, heart failure was the strongest predictor of health care costs, followed by CRF (P<.01), suggesting that efforts to improve CRF may not only improve health but also result in lower health care cost.

Cardiorespiratory fitness, physical activity and cancer mortality in men.
Baruch Vainshelboim,Jan Müller,Ricardo M. Lima,Kevin T. Nead,Cariad Chester,Khin Chan,Peter Kokkinos,Jonathan Myers +7 more
TL;DR: Moderate and high CRF levels and meeting the minimal PA guidelines have protective benefits against cancer mortality in men and Eliminating inactivity and low CRF as risk factors could potentially prevent a considerable number of cancer deaths and reduce the associated societal and economic burden.

Association Between Exercise Capacity and Late Onset of Dementia, Alzheimer Disease, and Cognitive Impairment
Jan Müller,Jan Müller,Jan Müller,Khin Chan,Jonathan N. Myers,Jonathan N. Myers +5 more
- 01 Feb 2017
TL;DR: Exercise capacity is strongly associated with cognitive function; the inverse association between fitness and cognitive impairment provides an additional impetus for health care providers to promote physical activity.

Cardiorespiratory fitness and cancer incidence in men.
Baruch Vainshelboim,Jan Müller,Ricardo M. Lima,Kevin T. Nead,Cariad Chester,Khin Chan,Peter Kokkinos,Jonathan Myers +7 more
TL;DR: Higher CRF is associated with lower total cancer incidence in men, and a novel finding suggests that eliminating low CRF as a risk factor would potentially prevent considerable cancer morbidity and reduce the societal and economic burden associated with cancer.
