Individual and population energy budgets of Abax ater (Coleoptera, Carabidae)
TL;DR: Abax ater is characterized by a high assimilation efficiency, a low production efficiency and a relatively high adult contribution to the total energy flow, well in keeping with the demographic traits of this species, i.e. a great adult longevity, a continuous reproduction, aLow fecundity and a high population stability.

Growth and egg production in Abax ater (Coleoptera, Carabidae)
TL;DR: In both larvae and adults, growth was slower under semi natural conditions than in the laboratory during early development, but was compensated for by a stronger growth later, suggesting regulation of body mass through compensatory growth.

Respiration of abax ater (coleoptera, carabidae): a complex parameter of the energy budget
TL;DR: Besides the classical relationships of respiration with temperature and body mass, this work showed the significant influences of digestion and mobility on respiration: taking them into account realistically required multiplying SMR by a factor 2.3 during the active part of the annual cycle of A. ater.
