TL;DR: VITATOPS aims to recruit and follow-up 8000 patients and provide a reliable estimate of the safety and effectiveness of folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 supplementation in reducing recurrent serious vascular events among a wide range of patients with TIA and stroke throughout the world.

Tissue and plasma angiotensin converting enzyme and the response to ACE inhibitor drugs.
TL;DR: The role of tissue vs plasma ACE activity may be clarified by study of the relation between drug concentration and haemodynamic effect, provided that the temporal dissociation is examined and linked to circulating and tissue based changes in ACE activity, angiotensin peptides and sympathetic hormones.

The experiences of an acute stroke unit--implications for multicentre acute stroke trials.
TL;DR: The suitability of 200 consecutive patients admitted to a newly established acute stroke unit was assessed for participation in two multicentre trials currently in their pilot phase: the International Stroke Trial of aspirin and heparin and the Multicentre Acute stroke Trial of streptokinase versus placebo.

Baseline serum urate and 90-day functional outcomes following acute ischemic stroke.
Jesse Dawson,Kennedy R. Lees,Christopher J. Weir,Terry J Quinn,Myzoon Ali,Michael G. Hennerici,Matthew Walters +6 more
TL;DR: It is necessary to select patients suitable for TPA therapy on the basis of prior history, prior use of TPA, and the likelihood of having a recurrence of ischemic stroke.

The Past Is the Future Innovative Designs in Acute Stroke Therapy Trials
TL;DR: The proposed approach to the design and conduct of clinical trials uses Bayesian methods that make careful use of high-quality available past (prior) evidence to refine the inference from accumulating evidence in the ongoing clinical trial.
