- 10 Sep 2021
TL;DR: It is a challenge to prevent and control COVID-19 worldwide with the increasing number of VOCs associated with increased transmissibility and changing antigenicity, and mass vaccination and gradual relaxation of non-pharmaceutical measures may be sought, which would limit the incidence of severe CO VID-19.

TL;DR: SARS-CoV-2 could be transmitted by respiratory droplets or airborne droplet nuclei in the hamster model and such transmission could be reduced by surgical mask usage, especially when masks were worn by infected individuals.

Qun Wang,David Christopher Lung,Pak-To Chan,Wei Jia,Chung-Hin Dung,Teijyu Miao,Jianxiang Huang,Wenzhao Chen,Zixuan Wang,Kai-Ming Leung,Pengcheng Xu,Zhang Lin,Daniel M.H. Wong,Herman Tse,Sally Cheuk Ying Wong,Garnet K. Y. Choi,Kelvin K. W. To,Vincent C.C. Cheng,Kwok-Yung Yuen,Yuguo Li +19 more
TL;DR: Investigation of a Hong Kong COVID-19 outbreak in early 2021 in four traditional Tong Lau houses with subdivided units shows that the outbreak was probably due to multiple transmission routes, i.e. by the drainage pipe spread of stack aerosols, which is enhanced by poor ventilation in the subdiv divided units.
Avian influenza A H7N9 virus induces severe pneumonia in mice without prior adaptation and responds to a combination of zanamivir and COX-2 inhibitor.
Can Li,Chuangen Li,Anna J. X. Zhang,Kelvin K. W. To,Andrew Chak-Yiu Lee,Houshun Zhu,Hazel Wai Lan Wu,Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan,Honglin Chen,Ivan Hung,Lanjuan Li,Kwok-Yung Yuen +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that H7N9 viruses isolated from chicken without preceding trans-species adaptation can cause lethal mammalian pulmonary infection and treatment with combination of antiviral and NSAID could ameliorate pulmonary inflammation and may improve survival.
