Terahertz investigation of bound states in the continuum of metallic metasurfaces
Xiaoguang Zhao,Chunxu Chen,Kelson Kaj,Ian Hammock,Yuwei Huang,Richard D. Averitt,Xin Zhang +6 more
- 20 Nov 2020
TL;DR: In this article, an analytical model based on temporal coupled mode theory is proposed to realize an "accidental" (i.e., parameter-tuned) Friedrich-Wintgen BIC.

Terahertz third harmonic generation in c-axis La$_{1.85}$Sr$_{0.15}$CuO$_4$
Kelson Kaj,Kevin Cremin,Ian Hammock,Jacob Schalch,Dimitri Basov,Richard D. Averitt +5 more
- 30 Nov 2022
TL;DR: In this article , the nonlinear c-axis response of optimally doped La$1.85}$Sr$ 0.15}$CuO$_4$ using high-field THz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) at field strengths up to $\sim$80 kV/cm.

Tunable Bound States in the Continuum in a Reconfigurable Terahertz Metamaterial
TL;DR: Researchers develop a reconfigurable terahertz metamaterial with tunable bound states in the continuum, achieved through thermal actuation and micromachining, enabling control over electromagnetic response and potential applications in nonlinear optics and light-matter control.

Coordination of size-control, reproduction and generational memory in freshwater planarians
TL;DR: In this article, a large-scale data set on the growth and asexual reproduction of two freshwater planarian species, Dugesia japonica and Tigrina tigrina, was acquired and a new additive model was developed that mixed multiple size control strategies based on planarian size, growth, and time between divisions.
