TL;DR: The anisakid nematode Raphidascaris gigi and the proteocephalid cestode Proteocephalus plecoglossi may be used as natural markers to differentiate ayu of Lake Biwa origin from the native (amphidromous) and/or hatchery-stocked population (s) of the same species in rivers.
