Unemployment and online labor
Kathrin Borchert,Matthias Hirth,Michael E. Kummer,Ulrich Laitenberger,Olga Slivko,Steffen Viete +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors study how local unemployment affects participation and work intensity on a large online labor platform for micro-tasks and find that an increase in commuting zone level unemployment is associated with more individuals joining the platform and becoming active in fulfilling tasks.

Correlating QoE and Technical Parameters of an SAP System in an Enterprise Environment
Kathrin Borchert,Matthias Hirth,Thomas Zinner,Decebal Constantin Mocanu +3 more
- 01 Sep 2016
TL;DR: This paper combines non-intrusive application monitoring of response times and subjective user ratings on the perceived application performance to evaluate the possibility of predicting the QoE based on the objective measurements using different machine learning approaches.

Crowd-based Study of Gameplay Impairments and Player Performance in DOTA 2
Matthias Hirth,Kathrin Borchert,Fabian Allendorf,Florian Metzger,Tobias Hoßfeld +4 more
- 04 Oct 2019
TL;DR: A crowdsourcing-based approach to objectively assess the impact of game impairments on the player performance at a large scale outside of a traditional lab environment and illustrates how game modifications can be used in this context.

Modeling crowdsourcing platforms to enable workforce dimensioning
Christian Schwartz,Kathrin Borchert,Matthias Hirth,Phuoc Tran-Gia +3 more
- 18 Nov 2015
TL;DR: This work develops a model for common crowdsourcing platforms and implements the model using a simulative approach, which is validated with a comparison to an analytic M[X]/M/c - ∞ system.
