Role of financial inclusion and ICT for sustainable economic development in developing countries

This study aims to determine the influence of related parties, profitability, committee on firm value, through the mediating role of economic growth. We conducted research on 40 companies of various industrial subsectors on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), over a period of  3 years (2016 to 2018), and the analysis model are Multivariate Regression and Moderating Regression Analysis (MRA). The empirical findings of this study are that the disclosure of related party transactions has an effect on firm’s value, while profitability has no effect on firm’s value, then the audit committee has no effect on firm’s value. The results of this study also indicate that economic growth can moderate the effect of related party disclosure on firm’s value, but it does not have a role in the relationship between profitability and the audit committee on firm’s value.

The Moderating Effects of Economic Growth on the Relationships Between Related Party Transactions, Profitability, Audit Committee and Firm’s Value

Abstract Innovative environmental technologies such as solar energy, hydroelectricity, waste-to-energy, and rainwater reuse sources have the potential to completely transform the modern world to reduce climate change and dependency on fossil fuels. This study aims to investigate the role of environmental innovative technologies on customers' experiences of hotels with a mediating role of sustainable intelligence. The study theorizes that environmental innovative technologies enhance customers ‘experience and attitude towards hotels. The innovation diffusion theory is utilized as a main theoretical framework to address the research problem. The data was collected from tourists/visitors at top hotels with a usable sample size of 222 respondents. Survey results reveal that innovative technologies in the context of Environmental Responsibility and Economic Responsibility have a significant influence on Pro-Environmental Behaviour with the full mediating role of Sustainable Intelligence . These findings have important implications when implementing innovative technologies in the tourism industry to (1) improve customer satisfaction, experience, and attitude towards the hotels and destinations; (2) provide guidelines in tourism development policy and marketing; (3) help government agencies to effectively use pro-environmental technologies to change consumer attitude. After the investigation, some intriguing theoretical and practical conclusions have been made. 

Adoption of environmental technologies in the hotel industry: development of sustainable intelligence and pro-environmental behavior

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and economic growth are fundamental determinants of international tourism demand. This study is a review of 105 studies on the relationships between tourism demand, CO2 emissions and economic growth that analyses the main results of this literature, detailing the proxies that are used to represent the main variables in question, the indicators used for their measurement, the geographical areas of analysis, the statistical and econometric methods used, and the main results obtained. The analysis shows the state of the art in this field of research, showing its limitations and suggesting several lines for future research at an empirical, conceptual, and methodological level. The study concluded that greater emphasis should be given to statistical and econometric modeling and to the investigation of other variables affecting the relationships between tourism demand, CO2 emissions and economic growth. 

On the relationships between tourism demand, carbon dioxide emissions and economic growth: a literature review

ABSTRACT This study integrates natural and cultural environmental factors within a unified framework, exploring their specific effects on tourism demand in China. To more effectively account for spatial dependence and variable heterogeneity in tourism demand, we utilize the spatial Durbin model in analyzing provincial-level data spanning from 2007 to 2019. Research findings reveal: (1) Both domestic and inbound tourism display significant spatial association. (2) Natural and cultural factors exhibit spatial spillover effects on domestic tourism demand, exemplified by sulfur dioxide generation and intangible cultural heritage quantity. (3) The impact factors or mechanisms of natural and cultural environment on domestic and inbound tourism share some similarities, but differences still exist. For instance, intangible cultural heritage prosperity stimulates regional domestic tourism but only affects local inbound tourism. This study, using China as a case, offers a practical approach and theoretical perspective for probing into the emergent growth poles in tourism demand.

Exploring the influence of natural and cultural environments on tourism demand: a spatial analysis

The purpose of this study is to assess the asymmetric associations of environmental degradation and economic growth with Pakistan’s tourism demand. To fulfil this purpose, “non-linear autoregressive distributed lag” (NARDL) modelling was performed on the time series data collected from Pakistan for 26 years. The unit root test, co-integration test, long-run estimation and NARDL estimations were applied to the data to generate findings. The present study revealed that there exist the significant asymmetric associations between environmental degradation and tourism demand. It has also indicated that there exist the significant asymmetric associations between economic growth and tourism demand. It is found through the non-linear ARDL estimation results that the increase or decrease in economic growth leads towards the increase of the tourism demand of Pakistan. It means that any change (either positive or negative) in economic growth is followed by the increase of the tourism demand. Results further indicate that the increase in environmental degradation in Pakistan causes its tourism demand to reduce while the negative change in the environmental degradation does not cause any significant effect on tourism demand. However, this relationship becomes significant in the long run as the negative change in environmental degradation caused significant inverse effect on tourism demand in long run. The current study tends to be theoretically significant and practically beneficial for Pakistan’s policymakers. It will help them realize the role of economic growth of the country and environmental degradation in shaping Pakistan’s tourism demand and thus help them develop and implement better policies for the growth of the tourism sector.

Asymmetric relationship of environmental degradation and economic growth with tourism demand in Pakistan: evidence from non-linear ARDL and causality estimation

The core tenacity of this study is to check out how the audit committee structure influence on firms’ financial value. With the help of literature, the study sets its main objective and uses penal data of 14 companies from cement sector which covers a period of 4 years from 2013 to 2016. The fixed effect approach is used to get the results of regression. The finding of the empirical outcomes is indicating that the Audit Committee structure has a substantial effect on firms’ financial value. The study used data from one sector and only from Pakistan, due to which the application of results in other sectors and the economy is not strong enough. According to superlative of our understanding, this type of research has conducted for the first time in Pakistan which contributes in the fiction of corporate governance as a showing effect of the audit committee structure on firms’ performance. This article provides helpful information to those who are affiliated with the management authorities when they design the structure of Audit committee, so they should make a good combination of audit committee elements for the better performance of the company.
