Smart grids (SGs) have enormous potential to increase efficiency and promote the incorporation of renewable energy sources and are a crucial component of the modernization of the electricity industry. However, their successful implementation and widespread adoption require a delicate balance of technological advancement and social acceptance. In this study, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of smart grids literature from 2010 to 2023 was conducted. To achieve this, academic studies on SGs and publications on issues such as awareness in this area, benefits and barriers to the adoption of SGs were compared in terms of quantity and breadth. The quantity and subjects of research in the field and subfield were analyzed through bibliometric analysis. Our research indicates that the social aspect of SGs is frequently neglected. This apparent imbalance can pose significant obstacles to the seamless integration of smart grid technologies into society, highlighting the imperative need for interdisciplinary research in the field. By increasing awareness of SGs, interdisciplinary collaborations spanning disciplines such as engineering, social sciences, political science, law and communications can accelerate the adoption of this technology. These efforts are essential in our pursuit of a more sustainable and efficient energy environment, which will pave the way for an innovative and inclusive energy future. 

Social Adoption of Smart Grids: The Research Agenda

This article develops a newly unique high gain step up DC / DC converter which is the future for interfacing to initiate rear bone of the fully green electric vehicle scheme. This technique optimally integrates four diodes, three capacitors and a modified coupled inductor connected to electric vehicle motor, which is three –phase Brushless DC motor. With this structure, reduced conduction losses, high conversion range and functionality with switched capacitor method and reduced voltage stress will occur during the switching period of the converter. Due to utilization of energy from leakage inductance, mutually joined inductor will support to kick efficiency and power concentration of the developed topology. Herein, the circuit configuration of DC/DC converter accommodating for electric green drive claims for even operation. A grouping of parallel inductor and diode L–D in series with the power switch is developed in this work . The converter suits extra beneficial conservative one by decreasing the switching stress current through the usage of new topology. The new topology results to increase the output voltage to 505V for an input DC voltage of 30V with voltage gain of 24.28, output power 525W achieving the efficiency of 97.74% by means of lossless power electronic semiconductor components. The stress voltage on switch, diode and capacitor is 170 V, which is 34 % of the converter output voltage. The designed converter is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink and the performance of the new topology is compared with different converter topologies.

A Novel Stress Reduction Technique Using Switched Capacitor with Coupled Inductor Based High Gain Converter for Electric Green Transport Scheme

This research paper presents a grid-connected DC/DC converter with multiple inputs, emphasizing a substantial voltage gain and non-isolated operation. The structure can accommodate a number of input stages and allows independently performing the MPPT function and power sharing. Since a higher voltage increase is obtained in the offered converter with more input sources, there will be no need to connect solar modules in series or parallel to achieve higher voltage and power ratings. The converter inherently offers higher reliability. The converter also draws current with minimal ripple for inputs, which is preferred by solar PV systems. These properties allow using this converter as a suitable and high-quality converter for high power to connect solar PV energy sources to distribution network. 

A DC-DC Converter with Multistage Boost Input and High Voltage Gain for Solar PV Applications

Hybrid energy storage system has essential priority in Electric Vehicle applications. Therefore, the design of an appropriate power sharing algorithm among energy storage components is necessary to improve battery thermal performance and provide extra extension of battery lifetime cycles. This paper presents an analytical study on the effect of using wavelet decomposition-based power sharing algorithm to force the high frequency component to be fed by the supercapacitor and accordingly reduces the thermal stress on the battery. The proposed approach was investigated by applying it on electric vehicle model in ADVISOR Tool/MATLAB using different driving profiles such as Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule profile, Highway Fuel Economy Test, New York City Cycle, Los Angeles 1992 and new European driving cycle. The results declare that by using proposed power sharing algorithm, the working temperature of lithium battery decreases significantly while battery lifetime cycles increase, apparently. For urban dynamometer driving schedule, the operating temperature of lithium battery is improved much at maximum decomposition levels reaching to only 25.6 °C compared to 35 °C. In addition, the battery lifetime cycles increased from 2213 to 2585 cycles. Neural Networks pattern recognition tool is also applied to classify the driving cycle to the nearest reference cycles chosen to represent the different driving conditions which help to detect the appropriate wavelet decomposition level, achieving better battery thermal performance and battery lifetime cycles.

This paper deals with the design and the control of multiphase interleaved bidirectional DC-DC converter This converter is used for Electric Vehicle (EV) applications to convert and increase energy storage system voltage from low side voltage to high side voltage, which is necessary to feed the inverter used to drive the traction motor The proposed converter can be also used to connect the energy storage system to the smart grid To increase the performance of high side voltage and to have equal sharing of the load current in each converter module a fuzzy sliding mode control is proposedÂ  The control method is tested by simulation of 4 interleaved bidirectional DC-DC converter associated with the three-phase inverter coupled with a 3 phase induction motor The simulation results exposed the robustness of the proposed control method under some disturbancesÂ Â
