Rapid seeding of the viral reservoir prior to SIV viraemia in rhesus monkeys
James B. Whitney,Alison L. Hill,Srisowmya Sanisetty,Pablo Penaloza-MacMaster,Jinyan Liu,Mayuri Shetty,Lily Parenteau,Crystal Cabral,Jennifer L. Shields,Stephen Blackmore,Jeffrey Y. Smith,Amanda L. Brinkman,Lauren Peter,Sheeba I. Mathew,Kaitlin M. Smith,Erica N. Borducchi,Daniel I. S. Rosenbloom,Mark G. Lewis,Jillian Hattersley,Bei Li,Joseph Hesselgesser,Romas Geleziunas,Merlin L. Robb,Jerome H. Kim,Nelson L. Michael,Dan H. Barouch +25 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the viral reservoir is seeded rapidly after intrarectal SIV infection of rhesus monkeys, during the ‘eclipse’ phase, and before detectable viraemia, which raises important new challenges for HIV-1 eradication strategies.
Protective Efficacy of a Global HIV-1 Mosaic Vaccine against Heterologous SHIV Challenges in Rhesus Monkeys
Dan H. Barouch,Dan H. Barouch,Kathryn E. Stephenson,Erica N. Borducchi,Kaitlin M. Smith,Kelly Stanley,Anna McNally,Jinyan Liu,Peter Abbink,Lori F. Maxfield,Michael S. Michael +30 more
TL;DR: The capacity of bivalent HIV-1 mosaic antigens to protect rhesus monkeys against acquisition of infection following heterologous challenges with the difficult-to-neutralize simian-human immunodeficiency virus SHIV-SF162P3 is demonstrated.

Vaccine delivery with microneedle skin patches in nonhuman primates
Peter C. DeMuth,Adrienne V. Li,Peter Abbink,Jinyan Liu,Hualin Li,Kelly Stanley,Kaitlin M. Smith,Christy L. Lavine,Michael S. Seaman,Joshua A. Kramer,Andrew D. Miller,Wuhbet Abraham,Heikyung Suh,Jamal Elkhader,Paula T. Hammond,Dan H. Barouch,Dan H. Barouch,Darrell J. Irvine +17 more
TL;DR: This research presents a new, scalable, scalable and scalable approaches that allow for real-time, 3D modeling of the response of the immune system to Epstein-Barr virus.

- 01 Dec 2013
TL;DR: In this paper, DeMuth et al. proposed a method to solve the problem of protein synthesis in biological systems using the Li-Abbink algorithm, which was shown to have promising results.

Neutralizing antibody affords comparable protection against vaginal and rectal simian/human immunodeficiency virus challenge in macaques.
Brian Moldt,Khoa Le,Diane G. Carnathan,James B. Whitney,Niccole Schultz,Mark G. Lewis,Erica N. Borducchi,Kaitlin M. Smith,Joseph J. Mackel,Shelby L. Sweat,Andrew Hodges,Adam Godzik,Paul W. H. I. Parren,Guido Silvestri,Dan H. Barouch,Dennis R. Burton +15 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that broadly neutralizing antibody-mediated protection is not strongly dependent on the mucosal route of challenge, which indicates that a vaccine aimed to induce aneutralizing antibody response would have broadly similar efficacy against both primary transmission routes for HIV.
