TL;DR: In this paper, the electric field generated by light irradiation in iron-doped lithium niobate crystals was analyzed using liquid crystal reorientation to analyze the strength of this light-induced field.

Light controlled phase shifter for optofluidics.
TL;DR: It is shown that a phase shift of a few πs can be easily reached for two orthogonal polarizations due to liquid crystal reorientation driven by the photovoltaic electric field originated in the substrates.

TL;DR: In this paper, LiNbO3:Fe crystals are used as a substrate to reorient the liquid crystal director, thus giving rise to a phase shift on the light propagating through the cell, as in liquid crystal light valves.

Liquid crystal cells based on photovoltaic substrates
TL;DR: In this paper, the photovoltaic field generated by the substrates is able to reorient the liquid crystal director thus giving rise to a phase shift on the light propagating through the cell, as in liquid crystal light valves.
