Nuclear inelastic scattering and density functional theory studies of a one-dimensional spin crossover [Fe(1,2,4-triazole)2(1,2,4-triazolato)](BF4) molecular chain.
K. Jenni,Lena Scherthan,Isabelle Faus,Jennifer Marx,Cornelius Strohm,Marcus Herlitschke,Hans-Christian Wille,Peter Würtz,Volker Schünemann,Juliusz A. Wolny +9 more
TL;DR: DFT calculations reveal that the stabilisation of the low-spin state of the complex containing the anionic ligand and shortening of the Fe-N(trz-) compared to the Fe (trzH) bond in high-spin is caused by a change of the structure of the neighbours of theLow-spin centres.
Optical pump - nuclear resonance probe experiments on spin crossover complexes
S. Sakshath,K. Jenni,Lena Scherthan,Peter Würtz,Marcus Herlitschke,Ilya Sergeev,Cornelius Strohm,Hans-Christian Wille,Ralf Röhlsberger,Juliusz A. Wolny,Volker Schünemann +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel sample environment enabling optical pump experiments has been installed at the beamline P01, Petra III, DESY Hamburg, which is used to investigate optically induced spin state changes of SCO complexes by nuclear resonant scattering immediately after excitation by an optical laser pulse.

Effects of mechanical loading on the magnetic and dynamic properties of engineering materials
Lena Scherthan,Hendrik Auerbach,S. Deldar,K. Jenni,Juliusz A. Wolny,Marcus Herlitschke,Hans-Christian Wille,Andreas Mutter,Jerome Meiser,Philipp Umstätter,Herbert M. Urbassek,Tilmann Beck,Marek Smaga,Volker Schünemann +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of strain on the magnetic and dynamic properties of ARMCO iron has been characterized by Mossbauer spectroscopy and by Nuclear Inelastic Scattering of synchrotron radiation.

Characterization of the light induced excited spin state of a heterometallic FePt 2 complex by high-field Mössbauer spectroscopy
Thomas Bauer,Andreas Omlor,Hendrik Auerbach,K. Jenni,Bernhard Schäfer,Rolf Diller,Mario Ruben,Mario Ruben,Volker Schünemann +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a dedicated sample holder based on fiber optics was built to expose iron containing samples with external light sources during Mossbauer spectroscopic experiments both at low temperatures down to T = 4.2 K and high fields up to B = 5 T. This set-up was used to study light induced spin state trapping (LIESST) of a trinuclear FePt2 spin crossover (SCO) complex.

Nuclear inelastic scattering at the diiron center of ribonucleotide reductase from Escherichia coli
Jennifer Marx,Vivek Srinivas,Isabelle Faus,Hendrik Auerbach,Lena Scherthan,K. Jenni,A. I. Chumakov,Rudolf Rüffer,Martin Högbom,Michael Haumann,Volker Schünemann +10 more
TL;DR: Quantum-mechanics/molecular- mechanics calculations of the whole 57Fe-Ec R2a protein with variations of the cofactor protonation were performed in order to assign characteristic bands to their corresponding molecular vibrational modes.
