Photoelectron Spectroscopy of CdSe Nanocrystals in the Gas Phase: A Direct Measure of the Evanescent Electron Wave Function of Quantum Dots
Wei Xiong,Daniel D. Hickstein,Kyle J. Schnitzenbaumer,Jennifer L. Ellis,Brett B. Palm,K. Ellen Keister,Chengyuan Ding,Luis Miaja-Avila,Gordana Dukovic,Jose L. Jimenez,Margaret M. Murnane,Henry C. Kapteyn +11 more
TL;DR: This work shows that gas-phase photoelectron spectroscopy is a robust and general probe of the electronic structure of quantum dots, enabling the first direct measurements of the evanescent exciton wave function.

Mapping Nanoscale Absorption of Femtosecond Laser Pulses Using Plasma Explosion Imaging
Daniel D. Hickstein,Franklin Dollar,Jennifer L. Ellis,Kyle J. Schnitzenbaumer,K. Ellen Keister,George Petrov,Chengyuan Ding,Brett B. Palm,Jim Gaffney,Mark Foord,Stephen B. Libby,Gordana Dukovic,Jose L. Jimenez,Henry C. Kapteyn,Margaret M. Murnane,Wei Xiong +15 more
TL;DR: Four different nanoparticle samples with overall dimensions of ∼100 nm are studied and find that each sample exhibits distinct light absorption mechanisms despite their similar size, which demonstrates the diverse ways in which nanoparticles respond to strong laser fields.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used ultrafast extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light to conduct time-resolved photoemission measurements of isolated nanodroplets in vacuum and observed the creation and relaxation of solvated electrons within the nanodroid after the absorption of EUV photons.
