Signature inversion and the first observation of a magnetic dipole band in odd-odd rubidium isotopes: 82 Rb

High spin states in the transitional nucleus87Nb up to 14 MeV excitation have been established for the first time via the reactions40Ca(50Cr, 3p)87Nb and58Ni (32S, 3p)87Nb. The87Nbγ-radiations have been identified throughγ-ray spectra taken in coincidence with the evaporation residues detected in the Daresbury recoil separator or with multiple proton emission. Gamma-gamma coincidences, DCO ratios,γ-ray angular distributions and lifetimes have been measured. A total of some 100 transitions have been placed into a level scheme comprising of sixty states. The one-quasiparticle (1qp) bands of either parity and several other band-like structures have been identified, some containing alignedg
9/2 nucleons. Moderately enhancedE2 in-band transitions of 13–48 W.u. as well as several weakE2 yrast transitions connecting bands with different quasiparticle numbers have been found. Similarities with respect to theN=46 isotones83Rb,84Sr,85Y,86Zr and88Mo are discussed.

Heavy-ion In-beam Studies of the Nucleus 87Nb

Particle excitations and collectivity in the N = 48 nuclei 83Br and 85Rb

A group of decay sequences in 77, 79, 81Br, 79Kr, 79, 81, 83, 85Rb, 83Zr, and 83Y with many common characteristics are compared. All of these sequences start in the region of the first band crossing, have strong ΔI = 1 decays with little or no ΔI = 2 branches, no signature splitting, and negative parity. The first state has spin 13/2 or greater. Deformed shell model calculations suggest a πg9/2 ⊗ v(fp) ⊗ vg9/2 configuration for the Br isotopes. There are a number of similarities with the oblate ΔI = 1 bands in the A ≈ 130 region and with "shears bands" in the Pb region.

High-lying 3-quasi-particle bands and signature splitting in rb-81

The decay scheme of $^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$ was studied by gamma-ray spectroscopy with the $^{81}\mathrm{Br}(\ensuremath{\alpha}, 2n)^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$, $^{70}\mathrm{Zn}(^{16}\mathrm{O}, p2n)^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$, $^{74}\mathrm{Ge}(^{12}\mathrm{C}, p2n)^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$, and $^{80}\mathrm{Se}(^{6}\mathrm{Li}, 3n)^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$ reactions. New energy levels and spins and parities were established. A stretched spin band built on the isomeric $\frac{9}{{2}^{+}}$ level at 42.3 keV, a $\frac{5}{{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}}$ ground state quasirotational band, and a three-quasiparticle band were found.NUCLEAR REACTIONS $^{81}\mathrm{Br}(\ensuremath{\alpha}, 2n)$, ${E}_{\ensuremath{\alpha}}=19\ensuremath{-}25$ MeV, $^{80}\mathrm{Se}(^{6}\mathrm{Li}, 3n)$, ${E}_{^{6}\mathrm{Li}}=23\ensuremath{-}29$ MeV, measured ${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$, ${I}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$, $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\gamma}$-coincidence, $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-angular distribution, $^{70}\mathrm{Zn}(^{16}\mathrm{O}, p2n)^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$, ${E}_{^{16}\mathrm{O}}=52$ MeV, $^{74}\mathrm{Ge}(^{12}\mathrm{C}, p2n)^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$, ${E}_{^{12}\mathrm{C}}=35\ensuremath{-}49$ MeV, measured ${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$, $^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$ deduced levels, $J$, $\ensuremath{\pi}$. Enriched targets, Ge(Li).
