Single-stage buck–boost inverters have attracted the attention of many researchers, due to their ability to increase/decrease the output voltage in one power conversion stage. One of the most important uses of these inverters is in photovoltaic applications, where the voltage of the solar panels varies in a wide range. In recent years, many new inverters have been proposed to improve the performance of existing structures. In this paper, the state of the art of these single-stage buck–boost inverters is discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of each structure are examined from different perspectives, such as the number of components, losses, and performance. Finally, in a general comparison, the properties of all structures are discussed and summarized in a table.

Single-Stage Buck–Boost Inverters: A State-of-the-Art Survey

Electrical vehicle (EV) charging stations are the need for the fu- ture development of electric vehicles. There are different energy sources for the generation of electricity for charging stations. Renewable energy sources like photovoltaic (PV) wind are eco-friendly. These renewable energy sources for EV charging stations will be economical, environmentally friendly, and reduce the burden on the grid. This paper presents a review on the different types of sources that can be employed for an EV charging station, the possibility for grid integration, charging station standards, backup energy storage, and backup energy sources have reviewed. The converter is a very important component in an EV charging station. Different kinds of converters are used in charging stations for conversions like AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC, unidirectional, and bidirectional, which are also addressed in this paper. This paper highlights recent trends and scenarios of charging stations. 

A Review on Recent Trends in Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles

Inverters have played a fundamental role in the development of energy conversion, especially in industrial applications. Over time, new architectures have been developed to optimize performance and reduce energy losses. Among the alternatives are dual inverters, which offer greater control flexibility, improve output wave quality, and, most importantly, have a greater impact on reducing energy consumption. Therefore, this study aims to systematically review and classify the main dual inverter topologies and modulation strategies, evaluating their advantages, limitations, and potential applications in industrial systems.

Grid Connected Photovoltaic System with Modified Quasi Z-Source (MQZSI) based Cascaded Multilevel Inverter (CMLI) using RENCO Approach

The investigations on multilevel inverters emanate with reduced the count on number of DC sources with improved utility waveform The reduction in harmonics and improved shape in current waveform are adequate requirement in industrial applications This paper proposes a cascaded five level boost inverter to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and to improve the current shape with less number of DC sources The active switches are operated with designed unique phase shifted switching logic strategy to smoothen the shape and produce satisfactory magnitude on the output voltage The boost circuit increases the voltage gain in addition to its healthier harmonic spectrum of the output waveform The performance of the designed circuit is validated in Simulink and it has been observed, THD is reduced to very low value, in comparison with conventional topology The inductor in the circuit improves reliability and also protects the source from shoot through fault The reduction in THD and improved current shape reduce harmonic associated losses and hence it enhances the efficiency

A Single Phase Cascaded Boost Inverter with Improved Current Shape

The reduction in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) has the significant importance in inverter operation to improve the quality of current waveform and efficiency of the circuit. The drawback of conventional topology is its large THD and poor current shape. Also an alternate power source is redundant to drive continuous and critical loads, while single source failure occurs with integrated inverter circuits. This paper proposes a dual active switched input buckboost inverter to provide continuous power in single stage conversion even if one of the source has zero magnitude. In addition the circuit provides adequate requirements of less Total Harmonic Distortion and improved current shape, to increase power quality. The buckboost converters in the circuit is operating in sequence with special PWM logic to create required AC output voltage. The proposed circuit generate an output voltage in single stage with lower and higher magnitude than the input dc voltage. The inverter circuit has the advantage that even if one of the source magnitude is zero, output continues in operation. Closed simulation of the proposed inverter is carried to validate the capability of proposed dual input buck boost inverter. It can be observed from the results that the proposed circuit produces the output waveform with less THD in comparison with conventional topology.
