Cable Interference Analysis of Gas Insulated Substation Based on Domain Decomposition Method-Multilevel Fast Multipole Algorithm

This work provides the RC filter-based mitigation strategy in Gas Insulated Switch gear power stations with Very rapid intermittent over voltage. In the field of electricity transfer and distribution Gas Insulation Substations (GIS) are widely employed. Numeral restrictions will occur with gas insulated substations (GIS), which will result in quite faster dynamic voltages being generated by switching occurrences of disconnected switches. The lifetime of the isolation system is shortened by the frequent occurrences of VFTOs.It is critical to know the maximum value of VFTO when planning the insulation level of a substation. Fast disconnector switches are commonly employed to shorten the time it takes for a breakdown to occur; nevertheless, they cannot eliminate the impact of the VFTO. Transients that are extremely fast. This article uses MATLAB to simulate and compute overvoltages produced by the operation of a 1000 kv GIS dis connector switch. By using ferrite rings, opening and closing resistors, metal oxide arresters, and R-C absorbers, the different protective methods on GIS equipment have been evaluated and examined. It can result in a flashover. In this study, the disconnecting switching can be reorganized by inserting other RC filters for mitigation components to minimize these VFTOs. The RC filter as a tool for minimizing VFTOs is selected for the four substations with such a varied rating (765KV, 1000KV, 1200KV and 1500KV) the substation is modelled, and MATLAB/SIMULINK presents the findings. 

Suppression of very fast transient over voltages in gas insulated substations using RC filters

The following paper presents an overview of the current state of art on the subject of Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) technology in order to understand the necessity of the grounding grid design models. Furthermore, different studies regarding existing applied technologies are considered in order to create an accurate review on GIS grounding models. For a better understanding of current GIS modeling methods an evaluation of the procedures regarding GIS grounding system design is conducted. The focus was to identify a suitable model technique for the GIS assemble and to obtain a proper grounding grid design procedure.
