Scale free avalanches in excitatory-inhibitory populations of spiking neurons with conductance based synaptic currents
Masud Ehsani,Jürgen Jost +1 more
TL;DR: A bottom-up approach to derive a single neuron gain function and a linear Poisson neuron approximation is used to study mean-field dynamics of the EI population and its bifurcations, which matches the characteristics of low firing spontaneous activity in the cortex.
Coherent neural oscillations induced by weak synaptic noise
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the effect of synaptic noise on the dynamics of the FitzHugh-Nagumo (FHN) neuron model and showed that SISR occurs only in the limit as the singular parameter, and that decreasing the parameter does not increase the coherence of the oscillations in the FHN model, but rather increases the interval of the noise amplitude.
Existence of (Dirac-)harmonic Maps from Degenerating (Spin) Surfaces
Jürgen Jost,Jingyong Zhu +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of harmonic maps and Dirac-harmonic maps from degenerating surfaces to a nonpositive curved manifold via the scheme of Sacks and Uhlenbeck was studied.

Geometric analysis of the Yang-Mills-Higgs-Dirac model
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated geometric and analytic aspects of a model that combines the Kaluza-Klein model with the Yang-Mills action and a Dirac action for twisted spinors.
Subelliptic harmonic maps
TL;DR: In this paper, a nonlinear harmonic map type system of subelliptic PDE was studied and the Dirichlet problem with image contained in a convex ball was solved.
