Construction of polyphosphazene-coated halloysite nanotube composite with in-situ released PO43- for efficient and rapid removal of uranium from wastewater

A new kind of novel low dielectric constant (Dk) and high transparency polyarylate had been synthesized through interfacial polycondensation with 1,1′- bis (4-hydroxybenzene)-4-tert-butylcyclohexane (Bt-BPZ) containing tert-butyl cyclohexyl bulky side group. As we expect, that the introduction of tert-butyl cyclohexyl with large free volume is proved to be an efficient strategy for obtaining low dielectric constant and high transparency polyarylate. The optimal dielectric property is obtained with 90% Bt-PZA in polyarylate (Bt-PZA91), which show a Dk as low as 2.14 at 1 MHz. Meanwhile, Bt-PZA91 also demonstrates good transmittance of 81.08%–88.34% at 450 nm and 78.67–88.26 at 400 nm. The cut-off wavelength of Bt-PZA91 is 304 nm, which is 16 nm shorter than commercial product U-100 (λc: 320 nm). In addition, the resultant polyarylates showed good comprehensive performance such as Tg of 202.2–220.5°C, Td 5% (the initial thermal degradation temperature) of 455.4–468.4°C, tensile strength of 64.7–86.8 MPa and low water absoption (0.41% of Bt-PZA91). Also it was found to can be thermal process, that its convenient thermoplastic processability makes it a great candidate for light-electronic industry, 5G communication, and we believe that Bt-PZA will have a broad application prospect. 

Design of polyarylates containing tert‐butyl cyclohexyl bulky side group with high transparency and low dielectric properties

Abstract A range of new fluorine‐containing copolyarylates were successfully produced through interfacial polymerization using hexafluorobisphenol A (BPAF) featuring a symmetric trifluoromethyl group structure, bisphenol B (BPB), and two acyl chloride monomers as raw materials. The results indicated that the synthesized amorphous copolyarylates exhibited good solubility, with number average molecular weights ( M n ) of 19,000–44,000 g/mol, weight average molecular weights ( M w ) of 66,000–159,000 g/mol, and intrinsic viscosities of 0.66–1.19 dL/g. The thermal stability of copolyarylates increased with the increase of BPAF monomer content (0~100%), which was manifested by the linear increase of glass transition temperature ( T g ) from 201.6 to 237.1°C, and the increase of 5% thermogravimetric weight loss temperature ( T 5% ) from 474.1 to 491.5°C. The tensile strength of copolyarylates ranged from 52.63 to 59.93 MPa, the tensile modulus ranged from 1102.08 to 1502.84 MPa, and the elongation at break ranged from 32.0 to 75.5%. In addition, the copolyarylates had good dielectric properties with a dielectric constant of 2.58–3.75 at 10 7 Hz and a dielectric loss tangent of 0.021–0.028. 

Study on the synthesis and properties of a new fluorine‐containing copolyarylate

As the nuclear industry boomed, lots of uranium has entered the water environment and caused great damage to ecological environment. Designing and preparing efficient uranium adsorption materials is essential to solve the problem. Phosphorylated Mg-Fe layered dioxides (P-MF LDOs) nanosheets with a favorable memory effect were prepared by calcination and in-situ phosphorylation for uranium extraction from wastewater (UEW). The unique phosphating method resulted in a uniform distribution of phosphate functional groups in the surface of LDOs, which gave it great ability for capture of uranium. The adsorption capacity of P-MF LDOs was 2.31 times that of pure MF LDOs. According to the Langmuir model, the theoretical extraction capacity of P-MF LDOs was as high as 909.09 mg g−1, which was significantly higher than that of similar sorbents. Additionally, it exhibited excellent anti-interference ability. The results of the adsorption mechanism study revealed that the binding modes included surface complexation, mineralization reaction, dissolution-precipitation, and memory effect. In conclusion, P-MF LDOs represent a type of highly efficient uranium adsorbent with simple preparation and high adsorption capacity for UEW. This study provides new insights into the development of inorganic clay-based uranium adsorbents.
