Role of PM 2.5 in the development and progression of COPD and its mechanisms
Junling Zhao,Miao Li,Zhihua Wang,Jinkun Chen,Jianping Zhao,Yongjian Xu,Xiang Wei,Jianmao Wang,Jungang Xie +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that prolonged chronic exposure to PM2.5 resulted in decreased lung function, emphysematous lesions and airway inflammation, and that long-term PM 2.5 exposure exacerbateed cigarette smoke-induced changes in COPD.
Increased IL-33 expression in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Jie Xia,Junling Zhao,Jin Shang,Miao Li,Zhilin Zeng,Jianping Zhao,Jianmiao Wang,Yongjian Xu,Jungang Xie +8 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that IL-33 expression levels are increased in COPD and related to airway and systemic inflammation, therefore, IL- 33 might contribute to the pathogenesis and progression of this disease.

Interleukin-33/ST2 signaling promotes production of interleukin-6 and interleukin-8 in systemic inflammation in cigarette smoke-induced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease mice.
Hongxu Wu,Shifang Yang,Xiaojie Wu,Junling Zhao,Jianping Zhao,Qin Ning,Yongjian Xu,Jungang Xie +7 more
TL;DR: It is found that IL-33 could induce and enhance the expression of IL-6 and IL-8 in PBMCs of COPD mice via p38 MAPK pathway, and it is a promoter of the IL- 6 and IL -8 production in systemic inflammation in COPd mice.

Interleukin-33 promotes inflammatory cytokine production in chronic airway inflammation.
TL;DR: IL-33 is a promoter of chronic airway inflammation that contributes to COPD development and could induce and enhance the expression of IL-6 and IL-8 in HBE cells and PBMCs of COPD patients via ST2/IL-1RacP pathway and MAPKs pathway.

Long-term efficacy of a rural community-based integrated intervention for prevention and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a cluster randomized controlled trial in China's rural areas
TL;DR: A rural community-based integrated intervention for early prevention and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in China is effective in reducing the incidence of COPD among those at risk, delaying a decline in lung function in COPD patients and those atrisk, and reducing mortality of COPd.
